Here I am with the grade boundaries for Anglish A1 HL... I couldnt find it for the Paper 1 essay and the oral commentary though....anyway

Paper 2 Essay (total marks 25) This was for the exam in 2002 by the way...
    20-25:7
    17-19:6
    15-16:5
    12-14:4

Worl Lit Assignments (each is worth 20 marks and they combine them for the total grade)
    34-40:7
    29-33:6
    23-28:5
    18-22:4

The oral presentation is the same as I had guessed previously....

If it makes you feel any better, I am on the border line for 6/7 too....for the oral presentation at least. Think about it this way, maybe your teacher marks really strict and when they listen to your oral commentary they will raise your score! Always think positive!

If the IB people think that your teacher marks too strictly, they raise your marks so that its a fair system. Similarly, if they think that the teacher is marking too leniently, they can lower the score too. But let's not get into that....

Do they add up your total marks on each paper then or just give you a mark out of 7 on each one?

For most subjects, the papers are weighted differently. For all the Langauge B subjects, for example, the essay and reading comprehension are worth 80 percent, and orals count for the other 20. For Physics, (at least at standard level) the multiple choice counts for something like 30, the short answer paper counts for 45, and the options count for another 25. Or something like that.

They just add up the scores for all the different subjects to get ur final grade.

They add up your total score in one subject and then you are marked from that. What mark a certain number of points will grant is not official , so it matters from year to year. My guess is they adjust it accourding to a standard distribution.

Yea, that's what I thought. I was just wondering why they bothered to give you a grade out of 7 on each paper then.
