Something stuck in throat

For the past few days I've been on antibiotics and I think on Saturday it felt like the tablet had got stuck in my throat. After a few hours I tried eating something and threw it all back up. I was ok in the evening, but I still felt like I had something stuck there. The next day it got worse and obviously I had to take the tablet again. I felt really sick in the morning again and was sick. Later on I ate some food and was sick again. Anyway this morning I've taken the tablet again, and it still feels like something's stuck there, when I swallow it hurts a bit. I also feel really sick cos I'm quite dizzy; I've been sick for the past four days now. But surely if I'm eating and being sick then there can't be anything stuck in my throat? But when I swallow it feels like there is. Does that mean there is? Or have I damaged my throat?
If you have been being sick and eating and drinking a lot then I doubt there is something stuck there - I reckon you've damaged your throat and its swollen or something, making it feel like there is something there...

Either way - see a Doctor, they can look down your throat properly and find out what's going on!!

It's possible that when the tablet got stuck, it scratched your throat a bit. Your oesophagus doesn't have a very precise nerve supply so the scratch/damage in the place where it was could still feel like there is something there.

If you're still vomitting stuff in a few days, especially if there is blood in it, then see your doctor, but I'd sit tight and it should go away in a day or two.

try and sip rehydration fluids. I know they aint nice, but every time you vomit your loosing things your stomach need. it ends up a bad cycle, try and not eat anything to heavy, stick to soup. It will be nice on your throat and shouldnt cause to many problems in the belly department.

Its great having so many med students - its like an NHS Walk in Centre.
(I know H&R isnt a walk in centre, and it shouldnt be used as one, but its still quite handy)

yes being sick can, people who suffer from bulemia can end up with scaring on the throat where the stomach acid takes the top layer of skin off. I dont think it will be anywhere near as bad, but if you think its the tablets id probabily stop taking them. Go and see the doctor about it too, see if there anything else you can have.

are you still throwing up? how soon aftre eating do you hurl?
see thing withe the suggestions others have made is they don't cause you to vomit. infact they wouldn't cause prble,s swallowing. they might cause pain on swallowing, and heartburn, but in the short term not problems like this.
it is possible the pills have caused some sort of oesophageal spasm - preventing you from passing the food into the stomach properly. its also possible that you have achalasia - it often comes on in younger adults, though i don't think its usually this short a period of time.

do you have difficulkty swallowing water at all? and do you have a nasty taste in your mouth.throat (Antibiotics taste rank usually)

id get to the doctor straight away. It should be getting better and not preventing you from eating and drinking, you could make yourself sicker.
I had the same thing, got it after my a-levels last year (just as my exams finished, talk about **** timing, really!) really hard to swallow, basically the doctor told me my throat was inflamed and infected. Spent about a week in bed and it got better; i couldn't eat or drink much but I managed to get a bit of water down and a lot of painkillers!

yeh, i would get ot the doctor, make sure they are aware of the time course of the disease, whether it has gotten worse, whether it has gotten better, and the pills you were taking etc.

Same things happens to me when I'm violently sick from drinking too much alcohol, I think its probably stomach acids burning holes in your throat, on the last night of my recent holiday to kos I was sick about 5 times in the last night, for about 3 days my throat was killing me, I too felt something was stuck, so I kept making myself sick hoping it would get rid of it, but it just made it worse. So yeh its painful for a few days but goes after that, nothing to worry about.

Obviously its not burning holes in my throat, just an expression, whatever it is, I've had exactly the same feeling as Lauren is experiencing, and it went after a few days.
