Bus Inspectors

Usually when I get on a bus I just buy the ticket, and normally I scrunch it up and throw it away, but today I put it in my pocket and me and my nan sat down, we were talking - as you do, when this man dripping with sweat got on the bus, ''****'' I thought, I knew he was a ticket inspector and I thought my ticket was somewhere on the floor, I looked but couldnt find it, he said ''tickets please'' I was about to tell him I didnt have one when I reached into my pocket and pulled one out. But what is the point of this post? Well you never normally see inspectors on buses, and for the 15 years I have been on buses, this is the first time I have came across an inspector.

the more people try to dodge the fare, the more inspectors there will be. In the past, people did not dodge it as much. Now far more do. Now I myself have dodged the fare in the past, but the point is, if people keep doing it, the fare paying people will pay the cost in higher fares.

Tut tut tut, littering your ticket on the floor indeed. Still, its admirable you bought a ticket if you could've been getting away without one for 15 years. (I must add that to the saving money thread)...

I know the amount of money I would have saved is unbelivable, and here is something which made me grin, the inspector said to the driver, ''this bus is rather noisy isnt it?'' and the driver laughed and said, ''its brand new compared the the GTL ones'' me and my nan just smirked.

I have never seen one in the history of going on buses.

I have seen inspectors loads of times on buses, and even more on the metrolink. They seem to be everywhere when you are in a rush and need to get somewhere quick.

hardly use busses - not at all in the past few years, but I have never seen one. I've heard that they exist, but never had any proof till now.

1) It must be pretty hard to get on a bus without the driver noticing
2) I had one recently asking me where I was going
3) They do it for statistical reasons sometimes
4) They like to think they have authority, when in fact they're just checking if you have a piece of paper.

different places have different fares...

when i used to use the bus all the time i very rarely saw a ticket inspector on the bus but every few weeks on the metro there was about 15-20 of em at the station and they checked every ticket of people who were on the metro. there was often 4-5 people taken off the metro every time that happened

well, it's more like a few trams, but they're expanding it.

they're cool though, you get to watch people playing chicken with them when they've had a few too many pints or alcopops.
