Student Finance Hacked

I applied for student finance in Marchish 2005 through paper work (not online application) and I did not receive a confirmation letter until I actually called my LEA and they said the letter might have been lost in the post. So I receive it in May 2005 after the call. The letter showed my ART ID and said I would get my security question and password a few days later. I didn't though!!! My parents received their ART IDs and security questions and password so I knew what letter to look out for. I haven't been bothered until now. I rang up student finance. They asked for my ARD ID, Name and the letters of the security word I made up...however I could not remember and I took 2 attempts. Somehow I guessed it right. Anyway she said I should know my password because I've already answered it online but I never have done. She insisted I did because I wouldn't be able to answer the letter part of my security ord. I assumed I did then and asked her to reset the account and claim I forgot my password.

It's really strange because I never ever received the Security question letter and my ART ID confirmation letter was lost so I rang up the LEA to resend it. What do you think happened? I'm thinking someone stole my post!!! I'm not bothered now as long as I do not lose the letter to come in a few days time of the reset security question and password but it scares me because I do need my money...! I bet that if the money went into the wrong account (some hacker changed it maybe), I wouldn't get it eventually and they'd blame me so I'd be loaning nothing!!! Feels like a scam now...

That's worrying. At any rate, you should not be held responsible if you never got the letter, and the website should log IPs anyway so you might be able to prove it wasn't you, if things go pear shaped.

interesting, i never got my ART security thingy either, just the number... confirmation and everything came through fine. Can they adjust bank details for example this way?

Oh...i never got an art id number - one came under my mums name - we figured that was it. I didnt know I got one as well.........

I did get my art id, and security pass word etc. But when I have tried to log on, it says its invalid!! I now have to ring up and unlock it because i attempted three times-*lol*. If you ask me, they make it more difficult than it needs to be for all of us! :frown:

you were ment to get an ART ID for yourself and your parents/2 carers so 3 total ART IDs! (is that really necessary?)

and then you are ment to get 3 letters for each ART ID owner with the security question and password

hmmm, and im still waiting for the reset security question and password :mad:
