For AQA it goes like this

20% Courseworkk (tesing four areas: planning, obtaining, anylisis and evaluating, you have to submit 2 peicies of evidence for each section and may submit up to four different investigations, but one must be complete whole)
30% Modules - 6 modules taken through out year 10 2 biology, 2 physics, 2 chemistry (multiple choice answers)
50% Final Test - testing 6 further modules and 20% of the material from earlier modules.

Modules included in 1st year: Humans as Organisms, Maintenance of Life, Metals, Earth Materials, Energy and Electricity

Modules included in 2nd year: Inheritance and Selection, Enviroment, Waves and Raditation, Forces, and 2 chem ones (cant remember what they are - is it Reactions, Chemicals and Bonding?)
