This would have made a brilliant poll, seeing who could be honest! Well, I have been told that talking to yourself is the first sign of insanity, but really, replying to what you are saying is the first signs of insanity. I talk to myself sometimes, on the way home from school at dinnertime, on the way to school, when I am on my own, I have been mainly thinking now instead of walking along the road talking, there isnt anything wrong with it IMO.

But honestly, when you don't talk to yourself, you're always having that sub-vocalisation in your mind ... u get me?

well if you practise this long enough and don't talk much in your lonesome moments... your mind will get very used to the sub-vocalisation thought process in your head and you'll stop speaking all together and become ....

    Antisoocial

    So speak even to yourself

i do it. but i tend to pretend i'm in a tv program, like for example, if i'm making lunch, i pretend i'm in a cooking program... and do funny voices etc.
I used to do that when I was eight and helping mum in the kitchen "And now add two tablespoons of flour and... mum where's the tablespoons... and just stir it in..."

replying to what you are saying is the first signs of insanity
Uh oh, I do that almost every day

*trying to work new MP3 player*

"Maybe if I press this button..."
    "You already tried that"
"Yeah, but I'll hold it down for longer..."
    "How long?"
    "I don't know..."
"See, its not working. Try that other button.."
    "Hey, that worked"

^ Actually, TBF, I don't normally have those types of conversations out loud ^
Though sometimes certain words leak out so you'll hear: "not"
And then you'll say "Did you just say not/"
    Me: No...

I talk to myself a surprising amount... the most worrying thing is where i get into arguments with myself though, and end up splitting my 'self' half a dozen ways, to try and work it out...

Isn't being able to draw a perfect circle the first sign of madness. i sometimes say things out loud to see what they sound like. Does that count?

not really, but I will end up grinning at something I remembered, without realising. This is particularly bad on subways or public places where this type of smilie is greeted by this type :s:
