I applied to read engineering in 2005 and I recieved a conditional offer on the 31st.

I applied for philosophy, but I haven't heard anything yet... will probably get rejected.
Reply 3
you're in sweden...it might take a while to get the ACCEPTANCE letter there. don't be so pessimistic!

hey everybody,

I applied to Trinity to read Economics, and haven't heard from them either. it seems I'll be waiting for a couple of days, since I'm an international applicant. anyway, too bad they can't notify us by email...

yeah that seriously sucks!! looks like trinity has a lot of international applicants? and preferably male? i read that the men:women ratio is 2:1 !! so does that mean that i'm automatically in just because i'm female lol  ?

dunno... but they boast how they treat every candidate equally so I dont think there should be any preferences. I guess that more guys apply to Trinity... anyhow, if the ratio is indeed such, then Trinity is heaven for those rare gals that manage to get in

what'd ya apply for anyway?

Yeah, I applied for NatSci(Physical), didn't get in, the interview just didn't go well on the day :frown: The test they gave me was unbelievable, nothing like the questions asked at the other colleges. I don't do further maths, yet the whole interview was essentially maths! Oh well!

no mail today either. but it's a kinda funny feeling when u know ur academic destiny is sealed already, but u can't find out what it is...

Apparently all the letters were posted on the 30th, but what annoys me is that they had allready decided before Christmas. I mean Oxford people heard before Christmas.

Was that serious? It's done on academic potential, you know that.

Incidentally, 89% of undergraduates at Homerton College are women.

frappucino, I guess all Cam applicants have a collective consciousness  or perhaps I was just reading your mind? :>

JaF, I understand your fury, but look, in a few days when u get ur offer these couple of extra days of waiting won't make a difference. by the time u start packing ur suitcases to come to Cam in september, u'll forget u had to wait at all.

Tek, isn't it that Homerton is a specialised college? an ex-educational college or sth like that. I guess that should explain the high percentage of women.

I recieved an offer on New Years Eve so I didn't have to wait too long. I think NYE is probably the best time to recieve an offer because what ever happens everyone is going out to get drunk anyway. So its either an excellent celebration or drowning your sorrows.

But there was still a part of my who just wanted to know striaght away - I often couldn't sleep at night because I was so worried about my reply.
I got a place in Trinity to read Nat Sci (physical) on 31st December. It made for a good new year!

I need 3 As, but since my AS results were 300/300, 300/300 and 295/300 in those subjects I should get them.
I'm looking forward to going, although I'm a bit worried about leaving home and possibly not fiiting in.

It would be great if all the Trinity applicants from uk-learning could meet up when we get there.

Don't worry if the interview didn't seem to go well, I thought that I'd messed mine up too.

anroidkiller - What subjects did you study at AS level and Wherabouts are you from in the NW?
Those results were for Maths, Physics and Chemistry (in that order) but I also got 300/300 for Computing and General Studies.

I don't really want to be any more specific that NW but its in Cheshire near the Mersey.

Fair enough, I didn't want your house number or anything I was just wondering. I live on the edge of the Lake Disrict. Well done on your results, they make mine look rather bad:

300/300 General Studies
271/300 Physics
259/300 Mathematics <-Resiting P1
248/300 Chemistry <- Resiting it all
238/300 History <- resiting the paper I got a low B on.

I think you're nuts for resitting everything but History no offence :P Shouldn't you worry about keeping on track for the A at A2?

Reason for Maths resit: I got the highest in the school for Mechanics (97), one mark of highest in stats (85) and then I got 73 in Pure 1. I know I'm good for at least 20 extra marks on P1 if I work at it.

Reason for resiting one AS history paper: I can resit it January and I need 74/105 to get an overall A at AS. This is significant because:

a) I'm probably going to drop History
b) I got a medium to high A on the other two papers and I know I can do better.

Reason for resitting Chemistry:

Theres an extra 52 marks available which is pretty significant in the grand scheme of things. Plus A2 chemistry is synoptic so it would consolidate my paper 4,5 and 6.

I know I'm nuts, but thats the way I like it.

With that reasoning, I do agree you're very sane afterall. Fair enough
