Slimmer legs!

Ok, what i really really need are slimmer legs! Im a size ten and generally slim, but for some reason, below my knees it all goes wrong!

I got some big "fleshy" (!) calfs (cant spell) and thick ankles. Its a problem cos i cant zip up things like knee high boots, yet i can wear sixe 8/10 jeans!

So can anyone recommend any exercise to slim my legs. My worry is that it will simply tone them, leaving them the same size, or build muscle, which i sure dont want!

How can i shift it from this area?!

Thanks fo reading x

You are right... if you exercise too much then the muscle will just get bigger and therefore your calves will look bigger...

I'm not sure what to suggest... perhaps some long term exercise that will be beneficial.... you interested in any sports like hockey or netball or something? Could work...

i have skinny ankles but my calfs are big in my opinion and i hate doing exercise coz they bulk up.... nothing worse than that!

I don't know what to suggest tbh, its really difficult! I've done Netball all my life, and its some how kept my legs slim (well... compared to the rest of me! :p: )

I would say use the cross trainer at the gym, but that could bulk up the muscle again...

i dunno!

I had a really fat teacher at my school, and we called her Kankles. She wasn't amused when she found out... :p:

my calves are big, but I like them like that. They are the favourite part of my body actually. it just means you might have to fork out a bit more for boots that do fit though. I'm lucky as I have big feet and stupid shoes designers seem to equate big feet with big calves and small feet with small calves. You calves are probably fine, but what shoe size are you? maybe it's just a case of stupid fashion designers. If that's the case you should be able to get a good pair that will fit, only they would be quite expensive and maybe not the hight of fashion. I can't remember if my boots where 50 or 100 - but I thought they were an investment at the time, so maybe more like 100?

see it works the opposite for me. I have big feet, and they assume that if you have big feet, your feet will also be wide, and you will have big ankles and calves...

most of my shoes are too lose width ways, and in my boots i flap about like an idiot...

I do actually play netball, but is all that running around keeping them big?!
And my shoe size is a 6, but to get the correct width knee boots id have to go places that do them specially like that!

Its just a rite pain in the arse, like i loved the whole jeans tucked in boots look, but i just cudnt pull that off!

I used to do alot of swimming as a youngster, i wunder if that got my legs big.
But my mum thinks ive got poor circulation that keeping fluid retained at the bottom of my legs......i think she talks nonsense!

Well if anyone does have any suggestions, let me know!

Hmm... I'm not sure... your mum might be right you know... and listen, it might also be in your head!! They can't be THAT big... I'm sure they look nice with the jean boot thingy (which I agree, totally rocks! :p: )

I wish it was just in my head izzy, but sadly it is not!
The other day my sister got some new boots and i tried them on but cudnt zip them up, she was all
"ha ha, your supposed to be the slim one (she is a size 12/14) so whats up wit u!"

Mean is what is she. But hey, I guess there are worse problems i could have than fat legs!!

Yeah i will do, thanks.
Everytime i sit down in the living room my mum comes over fussing and trying to get me to lie on the couch with my feet slighty up on the arm rest.....she says it will let the "fluid" drain back up my body. I dont know where she gets this stuff from!

there probably really isn't anything at all wrong with the size of your calves, it's just the stupid fashion designers - like I said, they think small shoe szies equal small calves etc.
so, not sure how you could get them any smaller, because they really do sound like they are a normal and healthy size. it's just the shoe designers who are idiots
Hope you can find some boots somewhere that fit, just keep looking around and hopefully you will find some ...

Eliminate refined carbohydrates (white flour, bread biscuits) as well as any sugars (apart from fruit) and that always helps my fluid retention - I can see the result on my ankles within days. AND drink lots of water.

Don't get rid of the good carbs (eg oats, vegetables, salads etc,) but just refined ones and anything sugary. A day of this and I usually feel a lot less bloated and much lighter and with more energy too.
