Pentel Pen for GCSE Exams- allowed?

Hi,

I have some GCSE exams fairly soon and I was wondering whether I am allowed to use this pen- Pentel Energel Original Black. I quite like this pen as you can write easily with it and it flows nicely. However, I'm not sure if you're allowed to use pens like these. If you're not, I would be grateful if you could point me in the direction of a similar fast flowing pen which I would be allowed to use. By the way, I don't like writing in biro (or anything similar) as it always gives me hand cramps/hurts my hands and I can't write fast with it.

Thanks.
I think you can. I can't see any reason why not! It's black ink so fine

Kind of risky, but I wouldn't dare using it. Just stick with the usual Black Biro Ball point pen. I am saying this as you know examiners scan your papers to be marked electronically, so if you use gel pens or any other kind of pens it may not show clearly so you might get lower marks for this.

Just some advice anyway.

have you been dropped on the head?

It's black ink - why would there be a problem - if it's not pencil or a freaky colour then it's fine. sheesh

Thanks for your reply. So, even if it is a gel pen, it won't matter?
i thought the no gel pen rule was so theres no chance of it smudging?

I used a black fountain pen last year and I think it was ok. Just check with a teacher though. I think I might double check this year about using a fountain pen for my AS exams especially as I know that my archaeology paper is marked electronically so it has to be right. Also I want nothing like that to go wrong. But I think as long as its black its ok.

if they can't scan it - then they mark it by hand.

A pen is a pen....
As long as your writing is readable and you write in black ink it does not matter one bit
Good luck on your GCSE's
I was wondering about the same thing. We've been told not to use black fountain pens, gell pens or rollerballs- only black biros yet on the front of our mock papers etc. It said black biro OR ink. Anyone got any clue? It is sooo much easier to write in rollerballs/ink pens as itss much smoother.
Yes you can use a pentel pen

I can't think of any reason why a scanner couldn't delete black ink from a gel pen. It would be fine.
