I wouldn't know about Cambridge, but at Oxford there are LOADS of stunning girls, real classy ladies, but most of the blokes are trolls. Quite fortunate really...

From what I've seen Wadham is the fittest college in Oxford, and Oriel is the mingingest. You don't want to go to Oriel.

  hehe, now that's a reputation i like.

Every university in the country must have good looking and not so good looking people...
I've met some very good looking people at Oxford... and some who don't look so good, but that's just the way the cookie crumbles!

As for 'bad' reputations of the rather cool kind, I'd have to agree and say St Hilda's win hands down. Although I too have heard these rumours about risque girlies in the First Year at Wadham... and if Queer Bop was anything to go by, definitely prospective 'bad' reputation coming there...

Jess, who isn't one of the pretty people...

risque!! lol. whoops. i think myself and a couple of others may have aided there...

Don't worry Tifa - avoid the compscis and go straight for a lovely boatie

:frown: :frown:

Boatie men are generally really annoying though :frown:
I should know, I'm a boatie girl!! It also really annoys me how non-boaties gatecrash boatie events, especially non-boatie girls chasing boatie men!!!

I'm on your side Tifa! we need to know what we're getting ourselves into before we arrive, when i went for interview i clocked a few hotties but maybe that's just the college i was looking round!

You saw fit people in Clare? Where? OK, there are a couple in the 1st year, but most of the first years had gone home by interview week. The guy I really like is not what you could call gorgeous - definitely middle ground there, but he's adorable anyway.

There are definitely some hotties around, but I can't comment on the lack of random pulling in clubs etc, cos I'm not into that myself, so I'm contributing to the problem (although I have on occasion got drunk and forgotten that I think it's a bad thing)

There seemed to be a fair amount of cuteness around when I was at Cambridge for Open Day and interview, but maybe I was just dazzled by the Cambridgeyness. (Like, "Hey, that guy was actually accepted." *swoon*)
God, I'm a geek.

No, I think the same, and I'm there! Having spent my school years in a place where none of the boys had any serious intelligence going for them, Cambridge is great for me! I don't stand a chance with many of them (tragically no, I'm not a hottie either) but it's still a nice thought that there are people you can talk to who don't automatically think "urgh, it's Helen the clever one, I can't speak to her."

Hehe, I thought there were lots of people after Dan from the first year? Seems like most of the college knows about him already somehow!
Wouldn't know who people would regard as hot though, I've been told another two Dans from the 3rd year are fit though.

Coming from a male only (until sixth form) school it's really nice just to be able to chat to females on a day to day basis, it's a totally different type of social interaction than you get between guys
I have no idea why anyone would want to go to a single sex college - I'd think they should all be abolished or something!

Oh yes, him! Yes, I suppose you could say that he's nice, although he doesn't seem to have made it into Clareifornication yet... (though I know from experience they don't catch everyone  ) I think one of the reasons he's well known (apart from looking like a model ) is because everyone saw him being given a blow job by "Kitty" at the Miss Clare competition  I'm not after him myself though, I've only spoken to him about twice.

Lots of the girls at the all-girls colleges seem to like it there, but there are plenty who don't (if you read TCS, the whole debate is there...getting rather tedious). I don't think I'd have enjoyed it - I'm too much of a recluse to go out and socialise with guys unless I'm actually living around them, so they're part of my normal life. I'm very glad I got into Clare though  Even if it does mean living at the colony next year...

lol - first off, please understand that this is a tongue-in-cheek post, I'm not actually concerned with sizing up the booty. BUT it's always seemed to me that people who aren't interested in Oxbridge (who are often the people who don't have a snowball's chance in hell of getting in anyway) think that they'd 'totally hate to go there, cos like everyone's minGing and like wasserpoint of uni if you can't pull someone dead fit like'...

So please, resident Oxbridgers, are you and all your counterparts odd to look at? Or have you spotted quite a few fitties in your day that disproves this stereotype?

many fitties I think

Colony isn't that bad, even the 50s disaster that is Castle End has big rooms, albeit totally effing freezing in here at the moment!
Mem is nicer, but you do get used to the colony, it's the firealarms in middle of night when there isn't porter cover which annoy people! Oh and the legendary fact that castle brae only has one shower!

I missed Miss Clare this year, which is a shame, I take it from your previous post that they did the cucumber thing again

All the boaters though are gunna be posh gits spending mummy and daddys money, who learnt to row at watever £20,000 a term college they went to. At my school the nearest u get 2 a boat is a disasterous canoeing trip on DofE :P Id be surprised if u found any down to earth state school kids at all at these "boating parties"

My friend's at Clare and she's mentioned him a few times I think. And also a 1st year doing law?

Idiot, it doesn't cost a thing to get into a piece of wood, tie your feet to the plank, and then pull another piece of wood hopefully in time with 7 other people.
OK it costs a fair bit, but the colleges cover that just like they do with all the sports.
It'd be a terrible waste to go to one of the most famous rowing universities in the world and not experience getting up at 5.30 to go running before going rowing in the middle of winter

thats a load of crap, people who are willing to experience new things at university are prepared to try rowing. and those "boating parties" are bloody good because they have unlimted free alcohol...so if like me you don't row (knee injury) but still turn up to free alcohol parties, respect the boaties!

Hmmm, I've only met female law students so far, so I don't know. I know of one male law student, but I would not fancy him if he were the last person on earth - I may have different tastes from your friend though!

Rob24601 - not all boaties are like that, in fact none of the ones I know are (although there probably are a few). It is true though, that rowing, like every other Cambridge society, ends up as a glorified dating agency. Boaties have a reputation, but I don't know if much of it is true as I've never gatecrashed any of their parties (they don't like it much when you do that).

J - did you ever sample the delights of boatie life then?

lolol

human nature. I can imagine it is in the society that stereotypes prevail and flourish (whether in reality or assumption). I wonder what other society *species* exist in the Cambridge gene pool - not least in their elegibility ratings I'm sure.

And would love if someone could clear up what these college 'drinking societies' are that I hear tell of...
