The Student Room Group

tbh its not important.

My course is accredited by the BCS but I'm not a member (as a student) and I don't know anyone who is. Maybe in the future BCS membership will be handy but tbh I hold the BCS in a similar regard to unions (that they cause trouble through **** stirring as opposed to being a useful institution).
Yeah the university I'm at is BSC accredited, to be honest its a real pain in the rear because there are certain types of modules that have to be done (most of which have nothing to do with Computing and IT and just bang on about ethics and morals). I think that this defers people away from what theyre actually supposed to be doing. It annoys all my course mates too. I've still not found a decent use for the BSC. They don't seem to do anything for the money that you pay them.

What course are you studying?

Hello. Just wondering while we are on the subject if anybody knows what the perks are of being a student member of the BCS? I have had a nosey on their site but it does not say (well I cant find it) what you get for your money. Once upon a time when I was a student (first time round) many moons ago I had a student membership and got free monthly magazines, discounted journals and a free bookmark and what have you. Anyway just curious if anybody knows. Thanks.
