I am really struggling with my personal statement, and I would appreciate any help/advice that anyone could give me. I have only picked three courses that Im applying for so far, two are 'Media Studies' and the other is 'Media and Communications'.

I first started studying Media Studies for my GCSE's in which I gained a B, I carried it out at AS and got a C and will be continuing it at A2.

I have done absolutley no experience in regards to Media, however I have carried out two work placements, one at a Nursery and the other at an Infants School.

I attended a professional acting school when I was younger for a good few years. I also use to enjoy making websites, however none of which I still update so I cant include Links etc in my Personal Statement but thought maybe I should still mention them? Finally I also work in Call centre.

The reason I like Media so much is because I believe it is the reason why everyone thinks why they do and this really intrests me. I love the way it influences the way people feel about things.

If any body could tell me what to include in my personal statement or how to go about writing about it, I would really appreciate it. Thankyou X

Hi! I'm no pro at this - haven't even finished my own yet... and mine's History not Media...

I'd say a paragraph on work experience, even if not related to Media is useful. Try and relate what you've done to studying media. eg. that you learnt communications skills/teamwork etc.

Stuff you've donewhen you're younger is less relevant... they wanna know what you've done recently/what you do now. But perhaps the acting school cold be mentioned as it shows you have confidence? I'm not sure.

The bulk of it should mention WHY you want to do the course and what skills you have learnt from academic and extra-curricular activities, which relate to the course. You mention media influence, so expand on this. Perhaps you could mentions specific aspects of the media.

Sorry I can't be of more help!

Ok, from reading this so far:
    - Don't mention grades. They'll be on your UCAS form. You may say that you think your past success at the subject has made you want to continue the subject, but leave it at that.
    - Again, like the other person said, leave out the drama school bit unless you can make it relevant. I wouldn't go for confidence; I'd say it has helped you appreciate and understand film as a medium better. Mention you enjoy web design and leave it at that. I doubt they'd want to check up on it.
    - Don't mention the fact you have done no work experience in the Media; mention how your work experience has been relevant to the course you want to apply for if you want to mention it at all (it's unnecessary).
    - You need to come up with a much better reason than you've given for wanting to study Media. Everyone will have written that.
