anyway about your exercise bike.

i dunno, what i used to do at the gym using those was go for 30 mins, set it at an intensity i could happily go on for ( a little struggle) and kinda do periods of 'sprints', medium bits, and slow bits.

it didnt have a speedometer so i was working on the rpm instead. i was on 100 rpm normally, going up to 130 (at a higher intenstiy) when iw as on the sprints, and maybe 90-100 (normal - low intensity) on the 'slow' bits.

but now i cycle outside so i just go as fast as i can and try not to hit cars

I did 25 mins earlier about about 14 mph and almost killed myself  Am I gonna get really muscly legs?

you should get out on a real bike; it is much better, but in London I don't know...
It takes usually over 20 minutes of hard cycling before you start to seriously burn off calories, and you have to push yourself quite hard for it to be worthwhile.

i dunno. i guess sort of, but not REALLY muscly like bodybuilders. just enough to get you to go fast

my legs have gotten a little bit more muscly, but not really significantly :frown:
Eww. Don't get muscly legs, Ellie!

What are they like now?

Lol okay to do any fat burning at all you really need to be riding for a minimum of about 20 minutes, really more like 40, but obviously if you're not a cyclist then it'll take you a while to get used to that. Don't try and go faster than about 20kph because you'll just become inefficient after the first 20 minutes because you're pushing yourself so yeh aim for between 10 and 20... which thinking about it works out to about what you were cycling at

actully at the gym the trainer told me to do 15 minutes at the 7th level doing not more than 98-100 RPM ,I've done it once for 15 minutes and my legs were killing me and it doesn't burn loads of calories burned about 70 calories, I prefer arc or treadmill
Reply 18
I don't care about burning calories, but does it get you fit? I'm trying to improve my fitness level but have no motivation - if i bought an exercise bike I could cycle while watching neighbours without having to go outside!

I've done over 10 miles this evening
