I got a 2.2 in my first year. In theory you are supposed to improve as u move through the years

I failed but kind of on purpose because I knew I was transfering courses, I didn't go to 2 of the exams because it was impossible to pass without doing the coursework which went on over summer (saw no point in doing that if I wasnt carrying on) my course was events management at mmu and I got this:

Events Industry: Fail (due to not taking)
Facilities Management: Fail (due to not taking)
Business Accounting: 3rd (equiv to a fail really)
Tourism Industry: 2:2
Fundamentals of Marketing: 2:1
Professional Development: 1st

When I did my first year exams, I got first class in Part 1A Natural Sciences.

Reply 6

Passed with firsts in all 6 modules.

Reply 7

Passed with a first. Doing Primary Teaching at Sheffield Hallam.

Reply 8

hey! i passed with a high 2:2 - suprising seeing as i spent most of the year drunk!

Reply 9

Passed all modules with a first

Even though the first year is only pass/fail, it means that my predicted classification at the end of my 2nd year will be a first (if I repeat the success in the 2nd year) and so aid my application to medical school. It is also nice to know that I actually understand and remember everything we were taught lol.

Am doing Geography at Durham, finished first year with a 2:2, though 1% off a 2:1 lol....not too bothered, will work much harder next year

Found out today that I passed all my retakes bar one which I have to trail into next year.

Reply 12

Is there a set pass mark which is the same for all subjects?

Each university is slightly different. In general though, get above 40% in all your first year modules and you are through to the next year.

That's funny - I heard you're meant to drop about 5% per year or something like that! Don't believe a word of it mind (though I did do worse this year than last :frown:).

I got a 2:1 overall so yay but in the module that i worked hardest for i got a 3rd... I'm really confused because i was sure i didnt do that badly.. and you know when you talk about the exam after Id said everything I was meant to have said so i really dont get it...
do you think itll be too late next year to ask if they could take another look at the paper or at least tell me where i went wrong or do u think theyd hav burnt all the first year papers by now?

I'm taking aerospace engineering... failed 3 maths modules, just been back for retakes and i reckon ive passed 2. Its kinda feels ok when most people on your course have failed the maths modules aswell. Probably have to put some work in next year
