Hello, Just been pondering how much the insurance would be for 18 year old for a vauxhall astra 1.4 5dr petrol.I have no idea about insurance matters. Anyone insured one at my age dont wanna dive in and buy the thing only to find out its going to cost a fortune to insure! Have not passed my test yet but hopefully will have done in the next month. Also the car is 1495 with 80k on the clock 01 plate, is this a good price?
The insureance will probably cost about £2000, if you are male. Source: i have a 1.6 astra mk4. Seems like a good price unless it's a cat c or something.
I have a mk5 Astra 1.6 and I pay about £350 fully comp in my own name (with non standard wheels and business insurance included). However I am 22 and female.

When you turn 25 it will go down more, though it should be alot lower than that already! How many NCB's do you have?
None, I passed my test in May 2008, so less than two years, but I was in a non-fault accident in January, and I have 3 pts on my license, and I live in a high crime area with my car parked on the road. Pretty much everything an insurer doesn't want to hear.

Yeah, it should go down fair bit when you hit 25 though!
I had a very minor accident recently, it was my fault but the person I hit, well they tried to blackmail me into paying privately or threatened to go to insurnance. The amount they wanted was unrealistic and I realised their insurance details were false...when I confronted them, they backed away.
Clearly an uninsured driver.
P.S-Regarding your non fault accident, so your insurance company wasn't required to pay out to fix yours and their car, so shouldn't affect your premium.
I am 26 and haven't got my British licence yet (I have had a licence from my home country since 8 years). can I get something cheap? I would love to buy a car but it is too expensive to be insured

You can drive on your international iicense for a year, but as you say, I can't imagine insurance will be cheap. But nothing is in this country so...
