My life is ruined - nudes leaked onto internet WITH my full name attached - HELP!

My last relationship (1.5 years ago) ended badly ... won't go into details here. We long contact, he vanished off the face of the earth, and I thought that was that. During the relationship we took some sexy nude photos. I wasn't too concerned about them when the relationship ended as I've changed my hair and appearance since they were taken, so I thought if anything happens I can just pretend it isn't me in the photos.

I googled myself last night to check where my facebook profile showed up in the rankings (I have a pretty unique name) and I was horrified to find that 4 of the photos are on the internet. And I don't just mean on 1 website ... they are EVERYWHERE - on all these 'my ex girlfriend' porno sites and even on foreign sites - in addition, my full name is linked to most of them along with really disgusting comments.

I spent all of last night in a panic, emailing all of the websites and explaining my situation, so far I have received 1 reply ... but they want me to send them a photo with a timestamp to prove I am who I say I am!

I am in the middle of my finals exams for uni and I really can't deal with something like this. I feel like my life has been ruined - if an employer were to google me and find those images I'd never get a into a respected career. Also my friends, parents ... I can't even bear think about.

I feel my only option is to legally change my name. I am in my mid 20s, so I guess in 10 years or so I might be married and will change my name then but I can't wait that long! Also, how do I explain the name change to my friends and family?

I'm screwed :frown:

 Sorry...

Speak to your ex boyfriend and ask him to contact the websites and delete them? Or email the websites again and say that they can't actually post your pictures without permission and if they don't take them off you will be going to the police.

Don't get yourself in that position again.

If you were under 16 when they were taken (were you?) then they must delete them cause it's child porn.
I wonder if it breaks any laws? Can you prosecute?

this is why, no matter how much you 'love' and 'trust' your partner, you never, ever let them take dirty photos of you, even if you're married as one day you could get divorced. A little warning kids.
Emailing the websites probably won't do much, even if they did remove them he could just submit them again to more websites. Best thing to do is speak to the ex boyfriend. If he's refusing to remove them, I'm not really sure what you can do. I don't know if it's something you could go to the police about, but you could always try and find out.
Email the websites and tell them you will take legal action for unauthorized use of your photos. They should be taken down in a snap, as long as the site isnt based in Uzbekistan or something
This is why you shouldn't send nudes to boyfriends.....

It does break laws, lots of laws, but to be honest there's just no way you can remove them all. It's impossible, once something gets on the internet, that's it....

The best thing you can do is damage control... so sorry to hear this.

I'm pretty sure that's illegal if you didn't consent.
Contact the websites, say that you will take legal action if they don't remove them immediately.
Also contact your ex-boyfriend and threaten to go to the police should this happen again. Maybe also find out if he has some sort of account on those sites / can delete the pictures himself? :/
can one see your face btw? cause if not you can say its a different person with the same name as u i guess?
i feel terrible for you :frown: good luck :hugs:
It actually is breaking some laws, along the lines of defamation, and slander. How old were you also when these photos were taken? There are also some cyber laws which I haven't studied yet which he is breaching. Take screenshots of the photos on the websites, take down all the details of the website, maybe post a thread on the technology forum, to find out the details of them. You have a very good case against your ex. You just need proof that it was him that posted them. I.e the pictures on his phone/camera , history of sending the picture messages, the pictures on his computer, if he's deleted them, they will be on his history somewhere in his computer, and the upload information would be on the websites. So he's 100% caught. I know you want them off, so if I were you I would go to the police. This isnt just one post of the picture, this is defaming you over many websites on the internet.

18.

If you were under 18, contact the police, your ex will get arrested for distributing child porn.

Even if you were over 18, still contact the police and see if there is anything they can do against the ex, and contact the websites yourself to have the pictures removed.

I imagine you could sue him for doing it and get him to pay you compensation, and if you have the time or the inclination then you should probably do so.

This is why you should never send anyone naked photos - and if for some reason you desperately want to then ffs don't include your face!

This sounds like a reasonable idea actually. And the guy that did this needs his ass kicking.

Contact your ex. Contact the police and see if they can do anything about it. Best you can do.

Emailing the websites is pointless. Talking to the police is pointless. If your relatively hot (which I'm assuming you are considering the images have already spread) then they will be everywhere by now. This happens to loads of girls, and you don't really have much choice other than to change your name or live with it.
Can we please stop spamming this thread. It's been cleared out a few times already. Thanks

A valuable lesson here: if you don't know something, keep your mouth shut and we might not think you're an idiot.

I know you want them off, so if I were you I would go to the police. This isnt just one post of the picture, this is defaming you over many websites on the internet.

1. There is no element of defamation whatsoever.

2. You claim to be a law student, yet apparently can't distinguish between a criminal offence and a tort? Dear Lord.
That is an absolutely horrific thing to do. I would recommend going to the police and getting legal advice. Especially if you were under 18 at the time. He has broken laws by posting them without your permission, but if you were under 18, he could well end up on the sex offenders register, ******* him up for life tbh, way more than these pictures could do to you. So threaten him with this, over the phone if poss, not on fb/email/text, or even better in person, and he will probably get them taken down if he can. And if not, hes ******.
Sorry to hear you're in such a **** situation
