Bath or Loughborough?

Hi everyone!

Ok, so I have all 6 of my offers through, and I'm pretty much stuck on the decision as what to have as my first choice. I'm looking at doing business/management courses, and my two favourites are Bath (AAA offer, ouch! - not exactly kind!) and Loughborough. I've been to both (briefly) and both places are really pretty.

So I was just after other opinions really, I don't live in England so I have no concept of what sort of nightlife/things to do are in these two areas.

cheers

oh yeah, and happy new year to the forum! :-)

hey, i'm assuming u've applied for Business Administration at Bath because I have too. I think u should definitely have Bath as first choice and perhaps Loughborough as second. Bath is a better uni academically and is more recognised for Business management. I haven't been to Loughborough but I have seen the area of Bath and I think it's beautiful.

Bath is cool, AND the uni is much more respected academically.... besides u can come and watch THE premier rugby team in England kicking ass...
Bath is one of the most beautiful cities in England and loughtborough is in the middle of no where so i would base my choice on that!

Oh and yeah big up bath rugby team have seen them a few times this season and if we dont win the league it will be a joke!

bath is better overall academically but loughborough has a good reputation for business. neither has great nightlife-bath people travel to bristol whilst loughborough come up to nottingham, both are pretty places but bath is quite expensive. both place an emphasis on sport but loughborough is arguably better, it really depends on what areas are most important to you

Both similar in that they have good sports and good facillities, and Loughborough is certainly an up and coming uni

However, Bath is acamdemically much better, its rated best outside oxbridge/london in this years times guide, I applied there for economics but was rejected

As for the offer, AAA sounds a little cheeky to me as their average alevel score last year was just under AAB. This means that if you get AAB you may still get in, but I could be wrong.
LOL!!!
Why not say, shall i live in the South of England or the north.
You take your pick but iknow what most with a bit of common sense would do.

Common man u can't compare bath with loughbrough ...specially for something like management.....Go for bath MAn!...anyone can get AAA if they really want it...

yeh i agree with these guys, bath definitely. Also if you choose Bath and dont get the grades then you can easily get in to Loughborough as your insurance.

Wonkey,

I'm going down for the one on the 11th, then away on me hols for a week afterwards. I think thats the main business school open day, but they're obviously happy enoguh to reschedule if you can't make it.

Anyone else going down on the 11th?

Bath is a really nice university! we stayed there on our year 10 geography trip (tip: get the right key for your door!!!), but the campus is really nice, as is the eating part, and they part we were staying in was en-suite (the only en-suite university we stay in on our trip, this included Bangor and Birmingham universities). and the room was the nicest out of all the universities we stayed at

wonkey,

I'm from the isle of man, although i doubt you've ever been there. So yeah, it means I have to fly to get wherever I want to go. So its slightly irrelevant where I go to uni in england cos I'm not exactly going to be close to home wherever i go! lol.

For those whose geography isn't that good watch the national weather tonight and look left of the Liverpool/Lancaster area, the isle of man is a little island between there and Ireland. Quite a cool place to live though, as any one that watches top gear will testify, no speed limits outside the villages, you can drive a car (or anything for that matter!) at 16, oh yeah, and our pubs don't have to close at some poxy time like 11 either!! I was in england the other day and got mightily confused when a bell rang in the pub I was in at 11 o clock! hehehe
