dieting info required!

hello all

i was just wondering if any of you know of any free websites that have dieting information on. the thing is, i have had a bit of a lazy summer and feel that over the next few months i should concentrate on loosing a few of my surplus pounds and try and shape up a bit. i have joined a website which tracks everything i eat, and it is useful, but there is no information such as how much fat, protein etc i should include in my diet or what my ideal healthy weight should be etc. does anyone know where i can get this information from? i would really appreciate being pointed in the right direction!

thanks! jen

www.fitday.com

You can keep a daily food and exercise tracker and put in a target for your weight loss then track your progress.I'm using it as I want to lose around 24 lbs. It's very good and free!

Life's too short to diet. I said that once in a chip shop and they gave me extra chips. Awesome.

life would probably be a bit longer if you did though...

Not necessarily. Dieting if you're clinically overweight will help keep you healthy; dieting if you're already a healthy weight and trying to make yourself underweight, especially if it's something unbalanced like Atkins, could do more harm than good.

Hear hear. Dieting helps no-one except those who are actually clinically overwieght to the point of being unhealthy.

Weight Watchers online has some free bits I think, including recipes.

people have the wrong idea about atkins, in alot of medical journals recently published atkins is coming out as one of the healthiest diets someone can do, as long as you eat unsaturated fats and few saturated fats

Go to the Armed Forces Careers forum and take a look at the military exercise programmes there,
