Whos starting Aberdeen in september then?
I'm going to study Psychology (BSc) :hmmmm: and hopefully it'll be quite fun!
I also sent off my halls contract and I've been allocated a place at Fyfe house at the Hillhead halls.
What is everyone else studying and where are you staying?

Hey Kirsty! Have lots of fun in Aberdeen. I was in Hector Boece Court, just across from Fyfe house in Hillhead. It's a very sociable place to be!

I just finished the BSc psychology course up there last year. It's a good course, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. But watch out for the stats teacher Caroline Green- a dragon in a human suit if ever there was one! But most of the staff are really nice. Good luck!

Ohhh, thanks! I thought i'd just gotten rid of all my dragon teachers from school.
How did you find the course? Is it really difficult or are there parts that are really difficult etc?

Generally it's very interesting, and most of the classes provide a challenge. I personally found the toughest parts were statistical analysis, but if you stick at it it's easy enough to get your head around. Neuropsych is no walk in the park either, but again, it's surmountable. Generally though the same rules apply to the course as they do everything else; if you enjoy it, it will be much easier.

Nah you won't- go to the union and the hillhead pub and join lots of societies and you'll get stuck right in! George street is ace, it's got loads of cool odd shops. And the best pieshop in the world- Thains! Mmmmm Look out for the ace cheap pool hall that's open really late, and laugh at the old men as they shuffle in and out of the porn shops, pretending that they went into the wrong store! ( i used to live in Spring Gardens, just off George street, so I know the area well). How come you took an apartment and not halls?

Depends what you're into. I liked Exodus, kef and Moshulu for clubs, drummonds, estaminet, vodka bar and the pool halls for pubs. But that's only the main ones, there's loads of ace little bars if you just hunt for them. Finding them's the fun!

ahh, but the union is no more! It shut down because they weren't making enough money to keep it going!! NOooooooo.... what will fresher's do without the Factory and it's sticky floor?????

Fyfe house should be good. I was in Adam Smith in my first year - did you know that Adam Smith, Fyfe and the-other-one-whos-name-I-can't-remember were based on the design for a swedish open prison?! Tis true!

Yeah the original union lost piles of cash when the other clubs opened up. But like the phoenix from the ashes the union was reborn! It's now in Pivo, just down from the original. But yes, the factory will be sorely missed. gone are the days of being rooted to the spot by the booze soaked carpets.

Eeeeevery student hall in the land has the story of them being modelled on swedish prisons! Have you been to a Swedish prison? how do we know what they look like?!!! They're not the prettiest though, but are good fun. But the standard of the food fits in with the prison theme. Keeps you full though when you can't afford real food!

I'm in a flat by myself aswell, though its in the old part of Aberdeen so not far away from the Halls. Bit worried about missing out on the halls social side but at least you can get a lot more privacy so you don't go completly mad by constanly having people around you.

Ahh, well I still have some inside contacts and they're all saying that the new union will be opening in the Ref come 2006. I hope it's good. I'll have to go and do my "honorary member of the Students' Association" thang and go and inspect! Give it the aalish certificate of approval
