Module total percentage - Calculation needed please!

Hello there!

Im not sure if this is in the right place, but it can be moved if it is. I need some to give me a calculation so I can work out my total module percentage. I'm rubbish at maths! :frown:

Each module contains 30% coursework and 70% exam. I need a calculation to find my overall total percentage for the module.

Example

Coursework (worth 30% of module) = 62%

Exam (worth 70% of module) = 65%

What calculation would I need to find the total percentage for that module?

Thank you,

xxxx

You have "62% of 30%" and "65% of 70%"; whenever you see "(quantity) of (quantity)" you have to multiply, and so overall you got
62100×30100+65100×70100\dfrac{62}{100} \times \dfrac{30}{100} + \dfrac{65}{100} \times \dfrac{70}{100}
...which is 64.1% overall.
Thank You!!! X

(270.5)+(580.25)+(660.25)=44.5%(27 \cdot 0.5) + (58 \cdot 0.25) + (66 \cdot 0.25) = 44.5 \%

The percentages that are the '(worth ..%)' have been divided by 100

I combined both coursework 58+66/2= 62
Then I added the exam result which is 27+62/2= 44.5%

is that right? thank you :smile:

Thank you, Unfortunately I have retake the exam, which is my tutor said. It is my final year in middlesex university taking up biomedical science.
40% is the passing grade, do i really need to retake the exam or should I run after them about this overall result. To be honest i don't really want to retake anymore, I am stressing out looking for experience and pressure from my mum. Please help :frown:

You can try and ask the university forum or be specific and ask in the Middlesex forum (here in TSR). In my opinion I'd go with your tutor's advice since he/she knows the best approach though it's worth asking other people who have good knowledge on how to go about your situation.

I feel for you, as I am most likely looking at the same dilemma in 2 days time where quite frankly I want to tell the university to '**** off' about one exam that I failed miserably, because resorting an exam now is just cruel.

I'm afraid your tutor is probably familiar with the rules of your degree, but worth checking for yourself whether all units must be passed to graduate (it'll be online somewhere) and if it's still unclear then message your department.
Hi I need help too! My assignment is worth 30% of overall grade and my exam is worth 70%. Altogether I need 40 marks to pass the module! I got 58% in my assignment how many marks do I need to get in the exam to pass?

30*0.58 = 17

23/70 * 100 = 33%

So you'll need at least 33% in your exam to pass. Bear in mind if you need to pass both components and the minimum threshold is 40%, you'll need that.

Thanks! How many marks do I need in my other exam to pass the whole unit (i need 40 altogether to pass) the report is worth 10%, the assignment is worth 30% and the exam is worth 60%. The marks I got for the assignment and report are below.
Assignment: 48/100
Report: 62/100
How many marks do I need in the exam?

How many marks do I need in the exam?

Total (Assigment + Report + Exam EE ): (48×30100)+(62×10100)+(E×60100)=40(48 \times \frac{30}{100})+(62\times \frac{10}{100}) + (E \times \frac{60}{100}) = 40

Rearranging for EE gives you 33 % minimum (rounded up) to achieve in your exam to obtain minimum 40 % and pass.

Add both percentages together then divide by two to get 63.5 Or add the amount of raw marks you got overall then divide by the max marks then times by 100
can you help me with mine. I got 35% in one coursework worth 40% what do i need to get in the exam worth 60% of the total grade to finish with a 2.1 which is 60%.

This is all in decimal form, let EE be your exam mark.

(35100×40100)+(E×60100)=60100(\frac{35}{100} \times \frac{40}{100}) + (E \times \frac{60}{100}) = \frac{60}{100}

Rearranging gives you E=0.76˙E = 0.7 \dot{6}

So you basically need to score 77 % on your exam.
Hi, In my assignment one is worth 60% I think it 70% and I got 22% My second assignment is either worth 40% or 30% and I got 34%.Please could you tell me what I got overall?
