Another manly hug from me! Where are you off to? I'm sure that anywhere will be great - it's what you make of it!

Bugger. I don't think that it means much, though. I hope you get in.

well done to those who got in, the pub-crawl t-shirts are great...the best thing about them - they have the wills griffin the front, but even better - the route is on the back - perfect for those drunken middle of the evening pubcrawl exploits when you can't actually remember where you are supposed to be

WELL DONE!!!!! If I get in, there'll be at least 1 other linguist to speak in a comedy German accent to, ja? I'm going mad with the waiting!!!! Might come tomorrow. Poor postman won't know what's hit him when I launch myself at him the minute he appears at the end of the street. What else have they got planned? Tell me mooooore! Not that it's exciting or I'm getting my hopes up or anything.... Did you get lists of stuff to take?
 I'll shut up now
Wow! You'll be doing German, too? That'd be awesome! I'm doing Italian and Economics (in some shape or form) as well.

I hope you get in! Lists? Yeah, they included stuff like: Be sure to bring a Hawaiian themed costume. That can only be good lol

Not doing German, sorry :frown: Czech and Spanish but I did A-level German which was MINT! Need to keep it up as I can't imagine a life without German. Came through UCAS extra, you see. The choice was "Czech and French", "Czech and Spanish", "Czech and everything else". No Spanish/German and Italian as hoped for. Never mind, obscure languages are always fun!
YEY Hawaiian costume!! Haven't seen any grass skirts in topshop lately
WHHHAAAT? There were spaces to do Spanish???? I emailed them and asked if I could do Spanish. Gits. Czech will be fun, I'm sure. I could speak to you in German and you could reply in Spanish  We'd both get something out of it

Hmmm. I guess I wasn't focusing on the skirts section... but I don't think so! Actually, I dunno what I'm gonna wear... maybe a Hawaiian shirt, flip-flops and shorts/jeans?
Oh and an absolute essential for freshers' week: the cowboy hat!

Ah, yes. My grandad has an inexhaustable supply of cowboy hats for some reason.

About the Spanish- I e-mailed them begging for a place and they said "no, go away you nasty person" (well, they were a bit more friendly about it) so tried the czech guy and he said "send me your grades and i'll talk to the spanish department to see if you can be squeezed on". Maybe the Spanish Dept are just big meanies. Bad luck! But German and Italian are both amazing. Have you read the UBU site about Italian? It's supposed to be the nicest department.
The nicest department? But I really wanna learn Spanish - so much mroe useful (and easy, according to ppl I've spoken to) than Italian! I'll see how it goes... it'll be harder for them to say no when I'm knocking on their door in October :p:

Do you know if you're in? Why does your grandad have cowboy hats???
