i always thought gnvq's were worth half a gcse :confused: cuz the course only usually lasts one yr i think...
Depends on the level - intermediate, advanced etc. Generally they last for two.

On the DFES site a distinction is awarded the same points as you would achieve with 2A* and 2A grades at GCSE - see here....

Any Intermediate GNVQ Distinction grade = 220 points ( 58, 58, 52 and 52). Some on here may not like it but that's the official line on its equivalence. Some places my not accept it as a qualification - that's up to them but it is official.

Please don't knock it. I know people who worked really hard for this and achieved well. Although the emphasis is on course work , it's still piles of work. Over 43000 people took the course but only 3.1% (1337 candidates) got distinctions and as many schools including mine have a complete range of abilities taking the course, it just shows how hard it is to get the top mark.
