Am I missing something or is there something called the Teikyo University of Japan situated at St Mary's? I was asked in the Entrance Forms if I wanted a single room in the Teikyo Accomodation and I put yes purely because I want a single room. Was this a mistake? What is Teikyo? What should I do?
Yeah, it's right next door to Mary's....and they have meals with us, and some Mary's people get rooms in there too I think...they're supposed to be really nice rooms, but I've never been in the Teikyo building.
Hiii... as Collingwood Teikyo Rep I can help you...
The Teikyo Buildings are kinda next to and part of Marys. There are students who come from Japan (Tokyo) for a year to study English Language and English Culture. They are all really cool!!
A few Marys girls live in the Teikyo building, alongside a few Cuths people whose houses collapsed.
Well basically... Collingwood has a Teikyo Committee where we have a few people who deal with making sure the Teikyo Students at Collingwood are getting along ok and not having any problems. We assign each Collingwood Teikyo Student with a parent... like a fresher parent... and we organise events... like we put on a Teikyo Festival where they wore national dress and made food and drink that was from Japan along with sharing their culture. Basically we try to ensure the Teikyo students dont just segregate themselves and keep in their little group... but try to encourage them to integrate into the life of Collingwood. It also helps them learn English by having to talk to us...
Yeh. Start one up!!! Organise an elected Teikyo Committe and a leader. Then come join our socials. Like on Union Jack Day we took them for a full english breakfast and then punting along the river, followed by a picnic on Palace Green! Was well good!
