Do you have at least a textbook?

Try past papers and some useful materials here http://www.ocr.org.uk/qualifications...nts/index.html

I have OCR critical thinking unit 1 next week only (Monday, am).

Good luck with your exams!

There are just a few things to remember for unit 1.

Here are some of them:

Section A: The language of reasoning
Make sure you can identify a main conclusion, intermediate conclusion, reasons of the argument, the counter argument, counter assertion, evidence, example, hypothetical reasoning and assumption made in a document.

Section B Credibility
To assess the credibility of a document, you should consider:
ability to observe, expertise, vested interest, bias, neutral, reputation.

You have to remember all of this. If it's not clear, then ask me . I will try my best although I don't have the textbook, and English is my second language (sorry if I misspelled something, or if my grammar is bad). However my teacher gave me some notes so I hope it's enough.

A counter assertion is a statement of the opposing viewpoint.

A counter argument is an argument that is given for the opposing viewpoint, it contains the counter assertion and the reasoning.

Just make sure you remember and understand them all and you will be fine. It's not difficult. Have you tried any past papers? They are very useful. You should try it and read the mark scheme. Make sure you read the questions carefully. My teacher told me that some students often answer only a part of the question because they didn't read them carefully.

Hi,
my first post on this site...

I have a unit 1 Critical Thinking exam aswell Monday morning...the hardest part is writing your own argument which is at the end of the paper and worth the most marks but they do give you the main conclusion to write about. the multiple choice bit is pretty straight forward as long as you have learned how to pick out the bits like conclusion, counter argument ..etc.

good luck to everyone

Welcome to TSR!

uhm, is that AQA critical thinking? In OCR we don't have multiple choice.

Good luck with your exams!

Umm..I'm doing OCR Critical Thinking next week and there is actually a multiple choice section (out of 15) on the Unit 2 paper.

Just thought I would let you know! It involves reading several short passages (usually 1 paragraph long) and selecting 1 or 2 multiple choice answers on each small passage.
