Lottery winner Michael Carroll, who became known as the 'Lotto Lout', has applied to go back to work as a dustbin man.
The Norfolk-born former binman won nearly £10m on the lottery in 2002 at the age of just 19.
What a waste. Am I the only person here who would be very careful of how I spent the money if I won the lottery?
Whenever someone asks the question of what people will buy if they won the lottery, it is always mansions, fast cars etc. Don't they realise they don't have an infinite amount of money? E.g the car will need expensive insurance, and the mansion will cost a large council tax each year, let along maintenance costs. If that wasn't bad enough, this guy bought drugs and hoes. I bet he regrets it. Lets all learn from this guy's mistake.

I would buy myself a few things and then put it in an account or invest it and live off the interest - which would amount to hundreds of thousands a year.

£200K a year gross at 2%. After tax you'd pocket just over £100K

Meh, seems like he had a good time and he has a healthy attitude to it.

Good on him. Hope he gets that job though. :p:

Yeah, not bad. Might take some out for spending and then invest the rest at 6% a year or something.

There's always the risk if the bank goes down, then you will loose your money. Think Northern Rock.

Err... the only people who lost money in Northern Rock were the shareholders and as long as you keep your deposits to £50K per unlinked bank your dosh is safe. Indeed in NS&I it is all safe anyway.

Yea, you and your children could live off the interest.
