Hi, i'm a prospective student who will be doing journalism and media at coventry this september. can anyone please tell me whether its worth coming to because i'm an international transfer student and i've got an offer for second year at stirling but coventry's given me third. i'm so confused so if anybody could just please give me an honest opinion about coventry i'd be so grateful. Thank you! =)
PS: if i come to coventry what's the best place to live in? (which one's most fun and in not bad condition and most lenient with visitors?)

Thank you so much for your answer, i feel a lot better knowing that at least somebody thought stirling wasn't perfect =) so assuming i do go to coventry would it matter in terms of my career? i mean do people (companies/organisations in the uk, london preferably because i'm planning to stay on under IGS) actually care about where you graduated from? would they actually deny you a job if you've had tons of experience with some of the world's best organisations and graduated with first class honours just because you came from a university that isn't so high up in the league tables? =S
You get told when inspections are- most people just bundle their pet over to someone in another hall or block
I have had to look after three hamsters at once while the J block inspections in Priory took place :s-smilie:

i've decided to come to coventry and ditch stirling =) can anyone in the journalism and media course tell me a little about the course and its credibility please? thank u!
My opinions about Coventry...its bloody great! although it could have a bit more grass and stuff. I lived in Priory in my first year and i absolutely loved it, you could just wander round and see a whole bunch of people you knew, and go to dinner with everyone you knew and stuff. I'm at the end of my second year in cov now, and loving it still...

anyone know what the library fines are for cov uni?. I have some books that i forgot to bring back, now they they are billing me for their replacement loads. If i return them i might be able to get away with just the fine, hopefully they will cap the fine to each book to a certain maximum amount.
It's just that i may require a copy of my degree transcript and usually uni's won't let you have one if you have any outstanding debt.

PS: Thanks so much for all the advice! =)
are u like the coventry king or something
Regarding the loan fines it is 20p per day for a standard (3 week loan) and I believe 50p for a one week loan.

On a side note I have to say that, although I have been there four years the library numbering system still confuses me. In places it appears to randomly jump. I do however like the 24hr trial for opening hours.

hey people!
I heard that Coventry uni has the fourth rank in business studies in the UK is that right cuz i got three offers at this uni and im confused!
Well, our BES faculty is our biggest faculty, and we're proud of it...but I don't know if we're fourth. It's my faculty, but I do pure Accountancy, not Business Studies, so I couldn't tell you about that course. Any questions about the Uni or faculty though, feel free to ask

In fact, this would certainly suggest otherwise.

thx for replying.
i got three unconditional offers but i picked business and finance. I think its somehow related to your course. can u tell me more about the department and facilities? is it a difficult course to study? and are there many arab students at coventry uni?
thx again!

It's kind of related to my course.
Accounting, Finance, Economics and Business can be combined in any way.
Accountancy shares quite a few modules with the above (especially Finance), but it is totally separate. It's a higher tarriff to get in, and we like to think we're the clever ones. Which, according to test results so far, we are

My department is the EFA (Economics, Finance & Accounting), they are at least partly in charge of your course. They're pretty organised most of the time, and it's quite a large department, within the largest faculty (Business, Environment & Society). We've got loads of computers (although currently campaigning against the closure of our favourite computer room in William Morris, which will be your building) and we're right next to the Library.
The modules that I share with you (namely Financial Accounting, and maybe a couple of others) aren't that difficult in the first year, as it's getting to grips with basics like the balance sheet, double entry...it's all pretty straight forward.

Coventry Uni is proud of it's mixed culture, yes, there are plenty of Arab students  We do try and mix though, so don't JUST hang around with them (of course, you won't! It's impossible!).

Where are you staying, or are you not staying within Uni accommodation?
