thanks applying tomorrow, raglans my first choice, do you know if its true about the really strict security at trinity point? thanks

Haven't heard anything to that effect. Raglan has reasonable security - need a card to get into the main area and then into the buildings. Don't know about Trinity though, I think I saw a similar gate outside there, but I've never been in.

Singer is far more open, people can stroll around in there very easily.

Raglan is mostly first years, but since it's not university owned they don't limit it only to first years (i stayed there for 2 years).

I think it's University owned now, or at least more university controlled, since it doesn't show up on the Unite website anymore...
Trinity is strict as hell. My boyfriend used to live there so I know about trying to get in!

All guests must sign in, and they can only sign in X amount of times per week (including Y night stay-overs). Your key thing will only get you into your block of six flats (plus the laundrette etc. obviously).

If you go to Trinity, MAKE FRIENDS WITH THE STAFF.

I'm in my third year now.

During my first year I stayed at Singer Hall which I would highly advise for 1st years, it's how student life should be, it's a nice complex too, parties are great.

My mate stayed at Raglan for 2 years, I have to say, it's really nice, the things that are better is the kitchen, more fridge space and nicer look. also, there's more of a communual/lounge area. The rooms are smaller than at Singer but much cosier, has everything you need including an awesome en-suite.

tbh, wherever you stay in Cov, you won't do wrong.

Apollo is very good these days but for first years i would adivse singer or raglan/trinity/Callice which are all within 5 mins of the uni, Callice is very close, like 200m.

If you wanna live nearer the sky dome and clubs/shops in cov, try Apollo or Liberty - Liberty is very good and right opposite the Aardvark and near Careys nightclub, 5 mins from the skydome/iceland/ikea too.

it's all very close in cov tho, just don't go too far out of town, too far east, i stayed in a place called Stoke just a mile east of cov in my 2nd year, and it was more amongst the locals which sucked to put it mildly.

Stay central or in Earlsdon.

Social wise, Cov is great, there's so many places to go, some I haven't even tried yet. Plus it's very close to Leamington Spa and not far from Birmingham either (about 15 mins on the train)

Also, it may have changed, but Trinity was very strict in which case i would pick raglan or callice over it. singer is like a student village and the security for getting into the blocks, flats and rooms is very adequate and ideal.

hey thanks that was really helpful, have applied to live in Raglan as my first choice
Totally irrelevant, but there were about 20 girls all doing weird dancing and stretching and stuff in the street on my way to work this morning.

Just thought I'd say it... So...yeah...

coventry, i just decided to go there accepted it and paidmy tuition (lol seemed to be a condition on my enrollment), looking for a 1-2 bedroom flat, saw beauchamp house and alvis house, really liked it from an internet picture. Any opinions? also, any rumours about coventry law, if students like it and if its any good as a program? Im not too concerned about the degree of finding a high paying job from coventry in england, planning on coming back to canada to milk out system for it ! lol i find lawyers are way better paid over here, anyways ciao

Are you an international student? I believe they have to pay some money upfront.

As for Law, there is a lot of reading (but that is common to all Law courses) but I don't know much about it. I studied a couple of Law modules for my course and the lecturers seem OK.

@ JayHarper.. I think its the 27th of September
Christ this forum is dead... from a quick count, I can see that there are a grand total of 10 people going next year.

Will be staying in Ragland house my self doing a engineering foundation, so get in touch so we can beverage it up! Names "Grady Lawless" (the only one on facebook last I checked.... >_>).

Coventry is the sausage chav fest I have been hearing about is it?

Will be arriving Coventry on 20th September and I still haven't got my accommodation settled :s-smilie: Funny when I asked the accoms staff how long I needed to wait for the hotel application

"you will be allocated a room in the next couple of weeks as we have a queuing system"

I mean, do you even need that long to get my accommodation settled out?? I have friends who just spent a few days to get their accommodation sorted out in other unis without a need to show their International student visas. Coventry Uni needed me to present an approved Student Visa before they can process my application

I'll just hop there's still a place for me to stay in the halls. Took Trinity point as my first choice btw and I'm getting abit regretful to put Raglan as my 4th :frown:

School's starting and my heart is telling me to give up getting my ideal accommodation
