The one at home requires you to be 18 to get in, and they go round at about eight asking people to provide ID or leave.

You have to be 18, you will get id'd going in

At my Wetherspoons', after 6PM everybody has to be over 18. Sometimes they ID you as you walk in, especially if you're in large groups, other times they'll come over to the table and ask to check everyone's ID. So I wouldn't risk it..

After a certain time, you have to be 18 to get in. When I was 17, I used to go with my older friends at a time when there were no bouncers on the door and have my friends go up to the bar... but there's always a risk that you could get asked to leave.

And I also recommend the purple rain cocktail from there

Weatherspoons is a family restrurant, so I assume you will be able to go into the pub and order food, no problems. I went in with a few mates who were still 17, and they were fine with it. Just be careful if they are on about drinking though. My local Weatherspoons has never ID'd me (though I am 18), but one where my friend lives ID's everyone all the time.

Ohhhhhh bugger, glad I checked this out first thanks! Are all pubs and bars pretty much the same policy-wise on this?

Smaller local pubs aren't as strict generally, especially if the underage people aren't drinking. Wetherspoons are just quite strict usually.

At mine you don't get need to be 18 quite a few people are not 18 that go there but they DO ID you if you are buying drinks.

There's usually someone who comes round the tables at around 8-9 to check everyone's ID..if you don't have ID and don't leave when asked by the staff, they can get quite irritated. Though I've never got ID'd there before when going in for food during the day.

The person ordering the food would have to be 18. They won't serve anyone under 18, whether they are buying alcohol or not. Also it would have to be quite early as they generally chuck all under 18s out in the evening.

Ahh right, fair enough. Tbh, I have always been 18 when going in Weatherspoons, so it's not really affected me. I didn't realise they chucked all under 18s out, as we went around 5ish or so, and only stayed to eat.

It depends; if you're planning on going into the city centre then they'll all get i.d'd but if you go to hall green or somewhere like that then they could probably just sneak in and sit down.

Spoons rule is up until 9pm, although on a Friday and Saturday night you will probably be asked to leave

Reply 14

I'm 17 and I work as part of weatherspoons, so I can honestly say you should be relatively fine, depending on the branch.
Legally, no one under 18 should be there after 9pm, although that's branch depending as it's 10 for us.
Ordering food and soft drinks is an any age deal, but only alcoholic drinks they check ID.
If you buy around of alcoholic drinks for your table, they will check every id of the person at that table as failure to do that can lose us our jobs.
I hope this is some help

If it's during the day then it'll be fine. Some spoons ID everyone at 9pm. Some don't though. Depends on the establishment.

The Wetherspoons in my home town IDs everyone after 9pm on entry and going around checking people. The one in the next town over only IDs people who are entering, if you are in before you are usually okay provided someone else buys your drinks. Just go a bit earlier for your meal and you'll be alright.

God why would you want to go to wetherspoons it's an absolute dive!!!

Why would you bump a 4 year old thread...

think the rule is a joke .I'm 17 was ok to have my meal at 830 but told to leave at 9 .but had not finished my food .last time I go there ..and I was with my family .walked across road .to a expensive restaurant where no such rule exists. This is Stratford upon Avon ..not Blackpool
