Need to lose weight - plz help!!

help

i need some encouragement:

i'm one of those ppl who can't eat anything without putting on the weight the next day. I don't eat much at all -

breakfast - orange juice, scone with butter
lunch - 2 cheese sandwiches and poss something else like 1-2biscuits
dinner - a load of veg (my mum cooks a LOT of veg!!) and a potato and then some meat or something is typical.

i suppose i don't do a lot of exercise, but on the weekends i walk about 6 miles on sat and sun in total and during the week, i prob walk about a mile every other day.

i can't lose weight no matter how hard i try, the best that seems to happen is that i maintain my current weight.

I'm 5'3 and weigh 9st 4lbs. About a year ago, I weighed 8st 3lbs and was really happy.......I was very stingy with eating food then and hardly ate more than a minimum amount, but I always ate something for breakfast, lunch, dinner and wasn't really hungry.

My target weight before i go back to uni is 8st12lbs. I really need some encouragement to reach this, please!!! My sister keeps telling me i look fat, even though it's only my legs that seem to have put on the weight - i'm still a size 10 on top, but seem to have gone from a 32C to a 32-34D!!

I would also like to keep a diary here each day of what i eat etc and i want ppl to tell me off if i eat trash or snacks. eventually, i would like to get back to about 8stone 7lbs coz none of my trousers fit now and i am losing self confidence coz i haven't got any nice clothes to wear. i don't wanna buy bigger ones - i just want to fit the lovely jeans i have got again. My master plan is to start running every day but it's hard to keep motivated

sorry for long post

thanks for your time

Its all about the excercise.
Do you have any friends that live close by? Its always easier to motivate yourself when you have someone to go with so maybe ask your friends if they want to go running with you.

Also its very important to set up a good routine for yourself and NOT to break out of it. You dont need to excercise every day; 3 times a week say half an hour INTENSE at a time is enough.

I should perhaps take some of my own advice.

Good luck! Remember, its not just about how much you eat.

a scone with butter is very fattening - maybe switch to wholemeal toast with low fat spread? and maybe salad in a pitta bread for lunch rather than two cheese sandwiches? saying this you do not overeat, Im just suggesting this to help you lose weight a bit quicker. Exercise is the main thing i think  goodluck

Hi,

The problem is with ur diet and the times u eat. Diet is important and should definately be combined with excercise. The best way 2 lose weight is cardio - but not cardio that kills u i.e a fast walk is by far more effective for fat loss than say running flat out which is more for endurance - now I'm talking in body building terms - but fast walking 2wice a day for 45 minutes and a good healthy diet worked for me - I was still lifting weights in the gym - but I carried on training the way I always did - so I know for a fact it was the cardio and the healthy diet which did it for me.

U need to have around 1200 calories as a female (I think) to be in calorie defecit - this is how u lose the weight. Combine it with the cardio and eat good clean carbs - i.e. boiled potatoes, whole wheat bread, brown pasta - try 2 knock out the fat - u should only get fats from ur meats I.e from steak or chicken or use a table spoon of olive oil to cook with - as these contain good fats. U need 2 eat 4 or 5 times daily at the same times every day- obviously this seems like a lot - but make sure theyre small meals - this will increase ur metabolism and try not 2 eat carbs after 5pm.

PM me if u need more help.

T

PS Remember Im a guy - so whetehr this will work 4 u I don't know - but it worked a treat for me.

Cut the carbs, do more exercise and drink plenty of water. 3 litres a day should be sufficient.

EDIT: Bad typo.

6 litres!!! Too much water can actually kill you. About 2.5 litres is the maximum most people should have, ie. those who dont do sports for 4 hours a day.
As for getting motivated for exercise, I just put some music on and count to myself, seems to be easier that way. Also, try to get it out of the way as early as you can on the day, otherwise you'll put it off for later, and then it wont get done till the next day, and the next day...
Good Luck.

you would have to actually drink 2 gallons, for the water to cause you any problems. Even then you would have to drink excessively for ages for it to kill you.
Cut out cheese, bread, pasta and potatoes(the latter maybe have once a week as they are full of vitamins)...

Eat ice cubes(they speed up your metabolism as the body uses calories to melt the ice and to warm itself back up...)

Drink a lot of water....stop drinking tea and most soft drinks as these have "hidden" calories...you wouldn't think a bottle of iced tea would have 200 calories.

If you want a snack and you must have chocolate eat a chocolate teacake(the ones with the marshmallow in the middle) or ONE chocolate biscuit....these have between 50-90 calories in.

Do some exercise before eating...your metabolism is faster for a while after exercise so will burn off the calories faster. The exercise will also help you tone up.Cycling is a particular favourite of mine!

Think about whether you are hungry before eating. If you think you are hungry and not just eating for the sake of eating drink some water, wait 5 minutes and if you are still hungry then eat.

But tbh,you don't sound fat from your weight etc.

hmm,I dont know. I just read somewhere that quite a few people who thought drinking lots and lots of water was a good thing, found out they had quite severe health problems. Water intoxication I think its called.Still, lucky for us we cant get it so easily then

drink green tea, chew gums without sugar, do exercise, move alot(hard:biggrin:) .try toeat a carrot .cucumber. fruits..etc when hungry and it's not the meal time yet, the problem is not in eating alot it's the calories in what you eat, if you eat loads of vegtables you'd feel full all the time yet you didn't take as much calories as you might if you eat something full of fat in small amount, for example you've ate butter, butter=fats, so you might not lose weight due to eatiing butter for breakfast everyday, why don't you try a bwl of all bran /K special/ fitness with a cup of skim milk, add some artificial diet sugar to it and when you fee hungry afterwords, have a peach an apple, then have an early lunch if you feel sooo hungry after couple of hours, or maybe another fruit, or just a carrot, really carrots fill you up , always have a salad with one of your meals, as someone said before, make sure you know how much fats are there in your meal, i mean whats the use of vegtables if tey are fried with loads of oil, or butter

I dont think your overweight at 9.4 stone. Is it that you want jutting hip bones or something?

If you want to lose a little weight, I'd cut out the cheese, or do more exercise. Fairly simple, you don't need to take drastic measures.

You don't say if you take snacks / other drinks during the day. If you do, try to avoid junk food like a packet of crisps, or pop.

Why not join an exercise club, like yoga or something at the gym? If you're in a club, or do exercise with others, like friends, that's more motivation. Very difficult to do exercise on your own and stick to it.
