I need skin help before uni!

I have what I think is funky skin but I can not seem to help it at all. The skin particually on my face is always really like flakey etc and i always end up with like red blotches - not real real bad but bad enough to bug me!

you would think i never washed my face etc but i have a good routine which i stick too and stuff

my older brother keeps telling me to go to the doctor for pills but im not so keen on the idea. what i think i need is something for dry skin maybe.

an intensive moisturiser - good ones are night creams rich in vitamin E that you can leave on over night.
mine's the same really.

Aloe Vera moisturisers & hydrating gel

Why do you need help before uni? I'm sure you venture out of the house at the moment. I really wouldn't worry-people at uni shouldn't judge you any more than people at college/school. Your brother might be right tho-visit the doctor, it really can't do any harm. Hope you get all sorted out : )

There are some really nice cosmetic (but expensive :frown: ) moisturisers out there (e.g. estee lauder or clinique) that are wonderful for "thirsty skin" which is what you probably have. I had your problem but I bought a jar and my skin's been great ever since.

What is your routine? Is it possible one of the products you're using is irritating your skin? Eucerin do a range of creams that're supposed to be good for dry skin

E45 cream? I suggest you see the doctor, the doctor isn't neccessarily going to give you "pills".
I was going to suggest E45 too.

Ditto about seeing the doctor too. He/she is going to be able to give better advice than us really.

go to the doctor and get a cram called "Benzamycilin gel cream" its an anti-biotic for your face. I have go mild acne and this cream really does help in a big way!

try using a gentle exfoliater 1-2times a week, and use day moisturiser and night moisturiser. i use a facial sponge from the body shop to wash my face, it only costs a couple of quid and its really spft and nice on ur skin and can b used everyday!!

have u thought about your diet , you could be lacking in omega oils and vitamin d that causes dry skin. Avocadoes are gr8 for the skin. Have u tried exfoliating with a salt scrub.

you might have sensitive skin, and hte products your using onn it right now may be too stroing for you causing your skin to become dehydrated.

dry skin is quite odd, in a similar way like dandruff there usually something thats causing it, not just your skin type

I wish we could have a skin swapping operation- I have really annoying sensitive skin which seems to do whatever it wants... despite all of my attempts to control it.

is it just dry and flaky or more serious / something more ?

cos i have v dry skin in general, and also sensitive and during winter cos i cycle to uni the constant sharp winds and rain, hailstones, were wreaking my skin, it became really flaky . id b putting mosturiserer on every 2 hours , cos it would b better after some moisteure cream but in hour or 2 , really flaky again. i was at this for about 2 weeks constantly moisturising, it was getting on my neves, so i bought a nurishing cream for v dry skin, it did work after using for a bit.

i know weather is not harsh like winter now but mayb a really good nurishing moisturising cream will do the trick
