Another new thread for episode 8 of this series - The Hungry Earth.

The episode is just starting, so comment on what you think of the episode as well as the series as a whole.

How does it compare to the others? What hints does it have for the future?

Remember please don't give any spoilers in here - just talk about what was seen on the tv. Also remember that people might not have watched the trailer for next week at the end, so try not to spoil too much from that

I am hoping for a pushing on of the main story-arc now as we had a filler episode last week and are likely to have at least one more this series. I just hope the story-arc isn't shoved into our faces like the way it has been in the previous episodes, it is kind of ruining the mystery of the arc :beard: and is kind of against the 'fairy tale' ethos Moffat has tried to promote as head writer.

Ah, did not know that. Makes a little bit more sense for the episode to be fairly boring I suppose, would of liked the episode to have tried to do something though.

Yeah. Im enjoying it all the same though tbh.

But the first episode in a lot of two parters just sets it up and plods along.

Despite it being the first of a two-parter I thought that was a truly awful episode, the worst of the series by far.

I agree, not as good as the previous episodes

Edit: Certain aspects were interesting though ie the return of the glasses

Pandorica and that dialogue exchange when the doctor went, "Don't give up on hope. There's always hope."

I thought it was okay... there were some good "scary" elements. Buried alive. Trapped in the glass/gas. Conscious dissection. Not that scary, but good thought that Doctor Who is trying to branch out...

I agree that it finished really fast.

Yeah, not much happened really. The narrative felt sloppy, the dialogue wasn't very sophisticated either.

The doctor needs to stop saying "trust me" so much.

nice cliffhanger, its ironic how the doctor is against dissecting the creatures but they do it to the humans.
