I'm trying to record sounds using a microphone. But the problem is that I keep hearing this weird motoring sound in the background when the microphone is turned on, and when I record something, that sound is also recorded!
ahhh, its sooo annoying. I don't understand where the problem is from and how do I get rid of it?

What kind of microphone are you using? Is it just plugged directly into your PC?

The most common sounds you're likely to get are:
feedback (generally a high pitched whine which changes as you move the microphone around) - Turn your speakers down when recording.
Mains Hum - A low pitched (50Hz) hum, This is picked up on audio cables from things like the power supply. Try moving the power supply and other cables around. If it's a laptop try running on batteries and see if it improves.
If you want more help it might be worth posting details on what sort of microphone your using, what your computer is and posting an example of the sound in question.
