just a quick question: who has applyed for a job online/via email and been successful? Who for, and how long did it take before you got a reply?

Thanks in advance for replies!

I did - though it was actually an internship exchange kind of programme (IAESTE) rather than a job I guess. Actually, I applied for my job last summer by email too, though I had to chase them up quite a lot! That was with BAE Systems.
Must admit though that I've applied for loads of other jobs (at supermarkets and highstreet stores mostly) which I didn't get accepted for

when you applied by email, did you send a CV and cover letter?

Ive applied to both comet and B&Q online and neither have even sent me a confirmation letter, I don’t know if they just thought my application was a joke or whether it was ‘lost in the post’ but either way they didn’t offer me a job, but never mind.

yeah, i've applied to a couple of places over the net and heard nothing...

It seems quite rare that companies respond to you, let alone offer you the job!

Ahh, so they might not have even looked at my application, that was a bit of a waste of time then wasnt it!

Well I made the email into the covering letter (saying why I wanted the job, when I could work, etc.) and attached my CV as a Word document.

who knows? job searching is so frustrating!

I was just interested in seeing if anyone has had success through applying online, be it with an online application form, or through email... specially for retail vacancies. Personally, I know of no-one who has been successful this way

I applied for a few jobs online, and I only heard from one of them. One of them replied and I was unssucessful, due to high calibre and higher qualification candidates.

I havn't heard from the other few jobs that I applied in July. O well.

Ive got an interview this week from applying online. They replied within a couple of weeks.
This has been the only time i've received a response! So, persistance does pay
