What is quasar?

Laser gun firing game, where you all wear packs and hold guns and fire at one another?....twas good but you have to queue up. You can go and play as many times as you want...good for groups of people!!! It becomes hilarious when you're drunk! But be sure to go early on in the night...it doesn't go on throughout the entire evening!!! (ball finishes at 4am right?)

Woa thats a fantastic lineup, what sort of stuff do we wear, and are there loads of places to rent the appropriate stuff withing loughborough?

Best place for lads is Greenwoods in town, be there sharpish tho to avoid dissapointment - they will try and sell you one other than rent one, i'd buy one, as long as u dont balloon over the next 3 yrs then you'll get your use out of it without a doubt. On average 3 times a yr u can use it depending on whether ure in any sports teams or clubs etc.

The Freshers Ball sells tickets on a first come first served basis. I think this year they are about £36.
I would recommend buying a platinum card from the Students Union as you get a ball ticket flung in with this price.

As far as other freshers events go, they are organised by your hall committee and your hall subs will cover these.
Make sure you get your parents to take lots of cash or their cheque books along with them the day you move in!!

aw damn, does that mean that those of us who arrive on the 29th rather than the 28th will miss out as all the guys who arrive earlier will take our tickets? How many tickets approximately are there?
How much does the platinum card cost and what are the advantages of getting it + does it garuantee you a place at the ball ?

P.S. How much is gym membership?

thankyou!

Hi,

Ball tickets don't go on sale until a few days in to freshers week so everyone will be there to get them.
The platinum cards cost about £65 and platinum extra costs about £120. You should receive information about this from the Students Union though soon. They are not available to buy yet either. The advantages of getting it is that you get a ball ticket and also reduced price entry to union on certain nights and drinks offers

Gym membership varies. There are two gyms on campus, Powerbase (East Park next to the New Sports Hall) and LUFS (next to Telford in the Student Village)
LUFS costs about £160 for the year, not sure about Powerbase. Powerbase is limited opening times because it is meant mostly for elite athletes. But i'm joining there this year because it's closer to where I live. I only went to LUFS about 5 times last year!!
Go here for more info http://www.lboro.ac.uk/departments/sses/SDC/
thanks very much darlo!!!! that information is very useful , I'm planning on getting a tux mainly for the ball so would hate to miss out on it
