Can I give blood if I've smoked cannabis

I've smoked cannabis before, within the past six months. I was wanting to donate blood but not sure if this would be allowed. Couldn't find anything on the official site.

Why would you want to? I can't imagine anything worse when you're stoned than to give blood. Except perhaps an ice cold shower.

This isn't directly related, but my friend had a blood test within 4 months of smoking canabis and it didn't show up any THC, so I imagine any possible effects would be gone and you would be fine. It is worth checking with them just incase though.

He wasn't asking if he can give blood whilst being stoned, he was asking whether he is allowed to give blood when he has smoked cannabis in the last 6 months.

After 6 months it'll be out of your blood so you should be fine. Ask the nurses when you go to give blood, they'll have definitely heard it before.

you would probably have to ring and ask- i think it can stay in the blood for a reletively long time but i would have thought 6 months clear would be ok

Anyone heard of this myth? You're allowed to donate blood but when you leave your blood is unofficially disposed of.

Months? Do a 3 week detox of not smoking, drink lots of water and you will be fine.

I think it is mainly injected drugs that prohibit you from donating blood, alcohol and cigarettes are technically drugs yet I bet loads of people consume those before/after donating.
