Not that I'm aware of. Just precautionary. As I said, most universities do it.

The lift at Pooley is dead ropey anyway! Stairs are infinitely better!

I don’t think there would be any problems getting on the 4 floor.. cause the lifts would be okay by the time we all get there.. Again who knows whats going to happen once we start living there. Lets just hope for the best…

Anyway..about the rooms being broken into… Well I haven’t heard of any such cases that have happen so far at the pooley house … but just in case .. beware of who ur letting into the pooley house while getting through the card access doors at the main entrance..

I have heard of rooms have been broken into…but at a different qmul accommodation house…Such as Ifor Evan Place …

Mostly this has been because people staying at the halls of residence are either letting in people who they don’t know without any form of identification (student Card) and reason for entering… or may be because these tenants are leaving the main entrance to the accommodation open.. This creates an opportunity for theft to take place…

So if im flat 1 im defo sharing with all guys? i did ask for a mixed flat and even when i called the accomodation office they said if you had asked for a mixed flat you would get one. confused lol

Pooley is alright, rooms arent that small, have en-suite showers, internet connections, a single bed, a few cupboards, a swivel chair, a window that is hard to open if you got the back bit of pooley! Fire alarms at the most annoying times, usually when your sleeping! lol.

Flat 1 wasnt single sex last year....flat 3 and 10 and 12 were (east side pooley) ....not sure if it's the same this year

i asked for mixed sex and smoking...... and i got single sex and non-smoking but that was my own fault for not sending my tennancy agreement back.... (still smoked though :wink:

The lift is fine....if immature idiots didnt mess around with it we wouldnt of had any problems at all. Only problem is if u r on 5th+ floor...when the fire alarms go off u have to take the stairs...

and ANYTHING sets the bloody fire alarm off.....including hair dryers, hairspray and shower steam!!

Dont worry about it lolz, we use to smoke in pooley house, not once did the fire alarm ever set off. Smoked in the kitchens, smoked in the rooms, nothing ever happened. But be ready for random nights of having to wake up at random times while your sleeping and freeze your ass off in the cold, with Pooley houses random fire alarms.

I remember on the last day of pooley house this year, after a great night in e1, get back to pooley, about 4am or so, fire alarm goes off, everyone standing in the freezing cold for well over 30minutes, on the last day. People where smoking weed to keep themselves warm lol.

was that the friday night party?or the urban flavours on the thursday nyt? its gone out of my head coz i seem to rememebr taking all the food home afta the party! very hungry home walkin down grove road at 3am with coke bottle and a pedestrian sign!
