How do your parents influence you smoking??

ok i was just thinking, my dads mum is a heavy smoker and he is SO against it. neither of my parents smoke, or my brother and sisters but i do... cos of my friends i guess.
i also know other people who are really against smoking because their parents smoke.
but then i know some people who's parents smoke and so they smoke themself, and they are really relaxed about it.

what are your views??

EDIT: only 15% of this poll (so far) smokes yaay smoking is BAD.

well if your parents smoke and you are around cigarettes all the time then you are waaay more likely to be tempted into trying it. my mum is quite clever in that she smokes roll ups because she knows i can't roll a cigarette so i won't really bother.
i smoke anyway though, i don't have anything against it.

my whole family have smoked for as long as i can remember. i've only recently taken up an occasional cigar and the odd toke from a pipe. i've always been indifferent about them smoking

Mine both smoke heavily. I think it's disgusting. Never been tempted to even try it.

When I was little, I always had to wait while they smoked before going into any shops etc. And they always make the car STINK when they get in after just having smoked. And nowadays they just tend to smoke in the car with the windows open "it's OK, it's going out of the windows" no it's NOT.

PS. they never smoke in the house, just in case someone mentions it

perhaps tell your dad's mum the cons of smoking and send her to a course on how to quit it- smoking is just stupid and there is no excuse to start it

try it- but if u like the first toke DONT do it again or u'll probs start like i did lol and if u dont like it then u'll probs not do it again anyways.

It's just cause you're use to the smell because you're a smoker, but trust me people will be able to smell it off you and everything.

nooo its never worth it!! a pack of 20 costs about £5.50 on average and the costs are going up, not even starting on the health effects!! its a bad bad habit and once u start u'll wish u hadn't... but still, its sooo good... dammit.

I kinda get what you mean. Because I live around people that smoke all my stuff gets covered in the smell and there are times when I can't smell it. But then I'll unfortunately turn my head and then smell it off my shoulder.

lol that would be because you smoke, it's why my parents are adamant that it doesn't stink. Really does.

Sometimes I can smell it on myself for ages after walking through a pub door because everyone smokes outside.

my whole family smoke apart from me and my older sister, we both hate it,
my mum stopped smoking around me when it started setting off my asthma but i still smell it around the house, i find it really embarrassing to bring my friends round to a fag smelling house =/
