Making complaints = freebies, money and coupons?!

As I'm a low-earning full time student, you can imagine I'm always on the lookout for how to get freebies, etc, and I came across a short article about somebody who complains everywhere he goes, and receives tons and tons of freebies. For instance, his example was when in McDonalds, he wrote to 'Head Office' and received £20    in vouchers for the restaurant.

So It's got me thinking, if this guy can do it, why can't I?

Have any of you ever done this?
Or how would you go about it?

Yeah, it seems morally wrong, but is it?, considering they are huge capitalist money makers anyway? :eek3:

Yes it is wrong, because if everyone made up complaints then genuine complaints would no longer be listened to.
...did you just call McDonalds a restaurant?
If you can be bothered to put the time and effort into writing complaints, then probably it is possible. I don't think many people would bother complaining, but if you really want to then you should. But like you said, it's morally wrong, no matter whether they are big money makers.

Anyways, you got me thinking, if you really are on the lookout for big discounts, Gypsy King has posted a link to thehut.co.uk and they're flogging away free polo shirts. Enter the discount code. Maybe u should give it a try, £5 delivery charge though.

My friend rings up fast food places all the time complaining and gets quite a lot of vouchers and discount food.
Its wrong because the equally skint minimum wage earning staff will probably get in trouble for your imagined problems.

And probably consumes a much higher volume of other peoples bodily fluids than the average person. Don't **** with the people that prepare your food. Seriously.

You know that making up complaints generally gets perfectly innocent staff members on minimum wage in trouble, even disciplinary or loss of their job remember it might be another student your doing out of a job.

I get ******** complaints all the time at work people make up that they havent recieved parts of their shopping or that its out of date! When you know that it was definatly picked and put in the same bag as other items they have recieved or even deciding that the item didnt arrive a MONTH after they ordered it (rather they have used/eaten it and now want another one for free!)

I bought a multipack of Time Out bars once that had one stick missing from one of the bars. We sent it to the address on the packet, unopened, and got £20 of Cadbury vouchers

I wouldn't complain in a situation where a member of staff would get in trouble though, especially if there wasn't even anything to complain about in the first place. That's not fair.

lol, u work at Sainsburys? or another supermarket online shopping department?
I find that writing to companies telling them how much you love their products is a bit better.
I've had quite a few coupons that way

I wouldnt recommend it, not only is it dishonest but staff would soon get to recognise you and ignore your claims, just be happy with your student discount with things

When I was 10 I once complained to mars about a dodgy M&M I got (had no shell) and got £40 worth of Mars Vouchers. Good times

Apparently there is some database of people who regularly make complaints so companies know which ones are real
