Worried about an English Language marking mess up.

i did AQA higher spec b English Language and Literature exams.. i was predicted a B ish for both i got my results last week and found id got an A in literature which was my weaker of the two subjects and a C in language which disappointed me..our school inparticular had problems with the language grades and there was a note in with my envelope saying they r contacting the exam board to sort it out coz alot of ppl in my year were getting cs and ds when they were predicted much higher. i dont know whther there is a way in which i can find out my UMS for english language??? but....i am getting quite worried.say if they wont giv me the UMS ...coz i no what my skool is lyk.:frown: and if one persons gets a different grade through this will everyones b checked .. coz i do not want to go down to D !!! i thought the language exam was far better than the lit exam.. and i went in with C/As in speaking and B/a in coursework.. Any advice ? thanx luv caz xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Your school is given a breakdown of the moderated coursework marks and the marks awarded by the examiner for both the English papers and the English Literature paper, so this is the only way of knowing your mark. If the whole school's is being checked then you'll just have to wait and see I'm afraid. It is very unlikely you will get a D if you are currently at the top of the grade C boundary. Not sure what to say in this situation. Good Luck. Let us all on TSR know hoe it goes.

A similar situation with Graphics really.
Language personally was a lot more difficult this year, whereas Literature was really, really easy.

When I took the 2nd paper, I not only did very, very bad, but after I re-read bits of it I cried because it seemed absolutely horrid.

Evidentally it wasn't, since I got A* for both Englishes.

Have there been a lot of AQA English mismarks? I was predicted A*s for both and got that in my Year 10 / Year 11 Mocks but then got A's for both my Englishes... But that was probably just me not knowing how to revise Language and panicking in Literature!
well at my school there have been yes.. but now they r saying they r onli sending off ppl they think are good and got low marks in the exams.. i dnt fink its fair coz i may never get a remark this way!!!

Hmm, I might ask to remark GCSE AQA English Specification B too. Similar situation: I misread a question in the exam and the Literature paper messed up. The result: didn't meet my predicted grade. However the question wasn't completely incorrect despite having misread.

Oh, and there were people, brilliant at English, with full marks on their coursework - but only gaining As in our year...

As for UMS, the Head of Departments all know our raw GCSE marks. Not sure if that's the same at your school, though.
