foundation course at UCL & Warwick

Hi everyone

I am a 19 year old EU student. I applied to Unis this year but did not get a place for a BA course. I got two offers for foundation courses at Warwick and UCL.

I can't decide which one to go to and which one will give me the best chance to get into a good university next year! Both courses are over £10.000. I have head various things about them. A friend adviced me not to go there because they are mainly designed for asian students to get to know the western culture, society and to improve their English.

I would prefer UCL but they have a crazy entry policy: They will test you again in the beginning of the course and if you fail that test (maths and critical thinking) you will not be allowed to study the course and you won't get your £10.000 back!

I would like to do a Business degree afterwards. Has anybody done one of the foundation courses before? would you recommend it and is it worth it? any alternatives?

I would be grateful for any advice you might have or to hear about your experiences!

Thanks!

The UCL course is very academic. Don't do it unless you enjoy academic study at a high level. That's why they have the tests: to check that you are a serious academic student and confident about taking those exams. The tests are only GCSE/AS level anyway, so if you are UCL material, you should be able to do them! I know many people who did this course and liked it. They got into UCL and even Imperial and Cambridge. But it really suits top level academic and intellectual students.
