My A level Choices: Maths, Economics, History and Extended Project

I want to do Economics at Uni, most probably at a top 15 uni. Would these course be acceptable for me to do Economics? I know these courses don't correspond however I hear Extended Project can be beneficial in terms of giving an offer. Maths is a vital course also it's my favourite/strongest subject and it can open many doors in terms of uni courses. Economics because the specification is interesting also I want to do this at uni. Lastly History I just picked it for lolz, lol jk just picked it because I find it interesting. Extended project is only for AS year therefore in a2 year i will be doing maths economics and history.

What about Further Maths? A lot of Economics applicants have it, and if you don't then you'll probably be disadvantaged against them. Having further maths would also make it much more likely that you could go onto doing a maths degree instead of Economics if you changed your mind; especially as maths is your favourite subject.
Maths/Further mathematics/History/Economics – Good combination.
They sounds good, what about Further Maths instead of History/Extended project? Or as an extra AS?

It will be very advantageous. I am guessing your doing economics, for the money (when you graduate)?

Drop the extended project, pick up further maths and do maths further economics history. Will set you up good for the fierce competition for economics >top 15.

Are you picking your AS options? Pick maths, further maths, economics and history. Further maths will help your application, especially to the top 5. Your college life wont be based on maths too much, I've probably put in more work for history than maths.

I am taking exactly the same subjects as you and also want to do Economics.

I have one question: My school will only offer FM as an AS. Will this put me at a disadvantage to other candidates?

Thanks

If your school offer it as AS only, I wouldn't imagine so, make sure this is stated in reference though.
Also, if you can handle it, take another subject like physics on as well.

Why can't you do FM and History at the same time? If it would be because of blocking issues, I'd ditch extended project. Yes it looks good, but it's not as related to Economics and Maths as FM and it won't help you in an application to the state that it actually really matters, like FM would. To be honest, since Economics is so competitive, the incredible large majority of applicants are going to have FM anyway for top uni's, and by not taking it, you'd be putting yourself at an automatic disadvantage for the top 15.

Can you not do the extended project as well as 4 ASs? My school has started the AQA Bacc and I've found it alright.
The extended project is really good. Some people have had problems with marking and help from their supervisors but I think mine really helped me get my university place.

Ok, that's a really good combination then, even better considering your further maths situation  .
my advice is either do EPQ or FM - its a tough choice and think carefully abt it as FM is veryyyyy hard.Cambridge is the only uni that ask for FM to do straight economics. therefore I would recommend the EPQ.if ur epq is economics related it can be a good talking point in interviews and a good excuse to engage in further reading. If you are going to do FM, I would do the a level rather than the AS - even the AS is v difficult and probably two years' work for one years' qualification
