For AQA English Language Paper 1
Section A: Reading

Question 1 = how/ what is the writers main argument
Question 2 = how does the writer use fact and opinions (may be worded differently
Question 3 =Language and Linguistic Devices
Question 4 = Compare Presentational/ Organizational Devices
(Question 3 + 4 sometimes vary
Basically know 3 types of presentational devices 3 types organisational devices 3 types of language devices and that fact make articles more vaild and real and opinions influence and shock reader.
Section B - Always choose persuade.. it is the easiest to get marks in.
Remember
A - Alliteration and Anecdotes
F - Fact Opinion
O - You
R - Rhetorical Qs and Repetion
E - Examples and Experts
S - Statistics
T - Triplets
S - Slogans
M - Modal Verbs
I - Imperitive Verbs
E - Emotive Language
F - Flattery
For A* include Sarcasm and Counter Arguments
Basically do this and you've got an A*. Also put a one sentence paragraph in that will guarantee it

AQA English Language 9-1 GCSE Paper 1
Question 1 - find 4 facts in specific lines of text.
Question 2 - Technical Devices - how the author uses things like similes, metaphors, alliteration etc in the text, why and the effect on the reader, what is the inferred meaning.
Question 3 - Sentence structure - types, lengths, paragraphs, the analysis of the piece why things are put in that order, what it infers - things like isolated sentences, linear time, forshadowing.
Question 4 - Your opinion in agreement or against the point of view of another reading the text.
Question 5 - Creative writing - either write a description or a story inspired by the picture or statement given.
All about 1 text given.

This is based on 2 pieces of text and is different.
