yes..i get them about once every 1.5 months and can i just say "ouch".
Mine make me vomit. Not nice.
Last time i had one i was at the boyfriends and up half the night. i'd been hanging around the bathroom because it was making me feel so ill, but i was so tired so i eventually went back to bed.

2 minutes later i threw up in his MESH bin.

Effort.

I completely sympathise, I've been getting them for most of my life. Have you seen your GP about them? There is a lot of medication designed to either prevent them or stop them once you get one. In my experience, over-the-counter stuff is pretty ineffective, so prescription meds may be the way. Another thing worth trying is acupuncture - quite a few migraine sufferers find it helps. I had a course of acupuncture sessions a few months ago and I think that it did make a difference, though the effects are not permanent, so I'm planning to go for some more soon.

haha he did indeed. he jumped up, ran to get a cloth and a bag and a bucket; emptied the bin, mopped up the sick and handed me the bucket all in record time

Are you on the pill? Because that can often make migraines worse.

Reply 9

Gah I've tried everything nothing can stop the migraine onslaught! Usually, I just lie down in front of the tele, drink lucozade, then at night go to bed in the dark and wake up okay!

Try a different GP. Some are more understanding than others, especially if they've ever had a migraine themselves! Is your GP male? Women suffer from migraines more often than men, so a female doctor might be a better choice simply because she is statistically more likely to know what you're talking about.

mmm, conversely female doctors are rubbish at understanding the male equiv of migraines - cluster headaches. which are a gazillion times worse.
there are people knwon to have gouged their own eyes out in an attempt for some relief!!!!

Solution: have a group of doctors of both genders and with a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Hmm, perhaps not so practical on the NHS.

I hadn't realised that cluster headaches are primarily a male thing. What are they, exactly?

That to me would be one of the worst things I could do if I got a migrain.
the tv is too bright, the pictures move too fast and is too loud (even when turned down quiet...sounds are made louder) The lucozade would hate me. Too much sugars.

When I get a migrain I try to drink as much water as possible, get into the quietest place, and make it as dark as possible. Sometimes helps to try and cool my body down. Eating dry toast helps me with the nausea.

Still it's a nightmare when I do get them. My Doctor is nice though as I have been going there since I could complain of the symptoms and so have had painkillers and preventative medicine for years. I'm on beta blockers at the moment, they have really helped me.

Another beta blocker user here. I've also recently started taking zolmitriptan when I actually get an attack, and that seems to work pretty well.

I know it's the worst thing I could possibly do, and it proably does make it worse. but I am not one who can handle boredom. I need entertainment, even if it kills me.

hi, im get migraines, sometimes 2-3 times a month and other times i go months without having them. I was told I can't take the combined pill because it can increase the risk of strokes. When i get a migraine i find the best thing to do is lay down in a quiet, dark room and try and go to sleep....usually if i can get off to sleep when i wake up the migraine is gone. I take sumatriptan which was prescribed from doc. Don't really know what triggers my migraines...think it could b stress.

I used to get a lot of migraines like one every 4-5 days but now it seems to have calmed down thoughi still get them maybe once a month or so now. I had a really bad one last night but I seem to be ok this morning, I don't have any medicine for it...never have!! My doctors thik I'm a hypochondriac when actually I'm just ill!!
