I think it's quite unlikely that you'll get an interview from anywhere else as the colleges collaborate and New Hall probably 'bagged' you (hmm not the best of terms ) first! Congrats

Blackadder's great. My friend is seriously considering Hull, over places like York/Manchester for English. She says the course/library/people are perfect for her. She's seriously gifted in English, completely excelled all the other students at her extremely selective, demanding school. And yes, maths at Clare.

Nah, I wouldn't be seen anywhere near Cam (just kidding, I love it really ). Medicine at Oxford

Definitely go! I know a girl who was at my school (all girls), applied to Camb and got pooled to a girls col. She didn't want to go after being in a single sex environment for so long but thought she'd give it a shot and she loves it. It's such an opportunity, you'll love it when you're there! xx

Which means more: being at Cambridge or being in a mixed-sex environment (though from what I hear the 'single-sex' colleges at Cam are so in name only)? Answer that and you'll know what to do.

Why not?

'Tis perhaps not the best place to be, but someone has to go there! It won't be that bad, you might just have to make more effort with societes or whatever or with lawyers from other colleges if you want mixed company.
Ultimately you're college is just where you eat and sleep, if you're not entirely convinced then you can always go and visit again before you accept through ucas. It seems unlikely you'd be taken by another college at this stage.

good luck

Alaric.

I know some girls from New Hall and they're getting on really well there. As I have said to others, all girl environments can be really friendly and supportive. Socially and academically my life is the same as those from mixed colleges - I wouldn't have applied to Newnham if I thought it wouldn't be! I socialise with people from my course from most colleges and people from societies I belong to. Just because you don't live with guys doesn't mean you don't socialise with them

Visit if possible and see what you think. I would go with your instinct, but even those pooled to all girls colleges almost always say they love it and should have chosen it in the first place!

I have the same dilemma Jade! I'd say go and visit and talk to as many people there as possible before making up your mind - it's what I'm planning on doing.

My friend started at New Hall this year after having been at an all-girls school, and from what I've heard she has absolutely no trouble socialising with guys!

I wouldn't be completely sure about an all girl environment, but in a male-dominated University, I think that it could be a good thing. As Haz said, there's no reason why you can't socalise plenty with men - it's not like you'll never leave your college! Newnham and New Hall both look like lovely colleges, and I almost applied to Newnham myself. If you don't live too far away you could go there and have a look around before accepting an offer.

I think you should....cos even though you will be living in an all-girl envirnment...all the law lectures and teaching (except for supervisions) are done on a university level....

I've got an offer from Caius to do law....3As....just out of interest....what was your offer??

hey,

since i am a bloke, i might not sway you that much, or i might be too late, because you've made your decision.

dont be scared of going to a girl's college. it's not a scary place filled with shaven headed lesbians (although there's nothing wrong with that) it's perfectly normal, there are lot's of blokes wandering about, and it just means u get a large number of close girlie mates in college, and go out a lot to be sociable and meet guys.

i went out with a girl from newnham (the other girls place) and she, and her friends, loved being there so much. pop over to new hall, see if you like it, then make your decision. i think it looks kinda odd, but thats the only bad thing i can see :-p

good luck, xx
