Yep to a point where its giving them a bad reputation. I know too many people who got to MMU for the sake of a party and not to study. This expalins its fairly high drop out rates and it explains why they are doing a massive campaign to get mature students to apply as they are more likely to study more.

I think, to an extent, there are no such thing as 'party uni's'

Take manchester met. If a student was to attend there who was shy and introverted, its no good that its a party uni is it?

If a very outgoing person was to attend a quieter university, im sure they'd make their own parties.

A party is only as wild as the people attending it

Sadly this IS true I saw it happen year by year on my BSc course. I only survived because I was there to study and although I made friends with the outgoing students I am rather on the quiet not into going out much side in fact I was the only one out of my original group of friends who graduated.

Reading and Sussex are definetly two good unis with a very good social atmosphere. Everyone waxes lyrical about nottingham uni's party atmosphere, trust me that certainly ain't true believe me!

    Why isnt it true?

Any big city will have clubs and bars and its just a case of finding people to go to parties with, theres no one uni which has more fun than the other, its down to the individuals. Plus your their to study and not party

Hey its just an opinion! which is based on much experience of going to see mates at notts uni and then comparing it to my uni plus others like sussex which seem to have a much better atmosphere without all the stuck up kids or boring ones. Plus everyone really hipes up the place to make it sound like its the best uni to go to for partying but again based on my experience.....

Like I said its just my opinion

to be fair Uni is what you make it, I go to hertfordshire but because it is so close to London i go out there all the time. So its not the university at all, its the location and more particularly the people!!!
