No, but as long as it's your only non-traditional subject, it'll be fine, and it's a great subject

You'll be fine with 2 non-traditional subjects. I was (I did sociology and psychology) and I got all six offers. It depends what course you are applying for and where though.

Nothing, don't panic! :p: I just meant that some universities might prefer it if you had 2 traditional subjects and just 1 non-traditional, but that won't be the same everywhere and evven the up themselves LSE don't blacklist sociology

Not sure what you mean by ''non-traditional''. It is a fairly new subject so perhaps dosen't have such a well known reputation as subjects such as English, Maths and science, but that dosen't mean to say you shouldn't take it. If you enjoy it and are confident of good marks in it then that's oo you need to worry about. I'm not taking it next year, so I'm not sure what it involves, but depending on what subjects you're taking then it could provide a little light relief if you're looking for something different.

I doubt sociology discriminates against itself, it isn't as stupid as law.

It's my second fave subject, but unis don't like you to do law for law.

But I wanna do sociology, just saying the fact I do sociology wont hinder my chances of getting in.

Ah no I'm not, sorry I must have misunderstood what you meant. I'm doing psychology at uni, I'm going this year. A very good friend of mine is starting a sociology degree at Portsmouth uni this year though (he studied it for A-level). I know quite a few people who are doing sociology actually.
