My sisters German class was just her for both AS and A2, she stopped goign to clss altogether after a while.
Well... i can tell you about both sixth form and college, having just changed schools half way through my A levels.
AS: At sixth form, I had quite large classes. I took popular subjects i guess and ended up with my smallest class being French, with 9 people in. However, at college the classes had about 6 people in each becaus ethey offered so many more subjects. My French class was a bit bigger though but i guess Frenc h was a popular subject.
A2: Not sure what the classes will be like at college when i start back next week, but they should be smaller... so i'll either end up in a merged group or in a group of about 4 because people drop out of every subject. At sixth form ive been told by friends though that the classes havent got much smaller... just a few people have dropped each.
So in my opinion, class sizes are smaller in college.
I've just started year 12...
Maths- about 20
Psychology - 18
Biology- about 20
I actually prefer larger classes becuase it's what I'm used to...I dunno..I just don't like change!
Im in year 12, and my class sizes so far are:
History - 9 people
Maths - 12 people
Physics - 3 people
Im doing chemistry and english lit at a college which has links with my sixth form, so those classes will probably be quite big.
I go to sixth form at a comprehensive school with about 100 Year 13s and probably about 120 Year 12s.
AS English lit: About 20 at the start of the year and about 17 at the end.
AS sociology: In my class, 7 at the start of the year and 4 at the end, but there was another class with about 7 in all the way through, so about 14 at the start and 11 at the end.
AS history: 14 at the start and 12 at the end.
AS French: 7 at the start and 5 at the end.
A2 English lit: 13 (oooh unlucky!)
A2 sociology: 10 (all one class)
A2 history: 8
A2 French: 3
Large Sixth Form, but smallish classes
AS Maths 17 people
AS English Lit 8 people
AS Chemistry 8 people
A German 13 people
A2 French - about 12-14 I think
A2 Geography - about 12
A2 History - about 15
AS English Lit - Not sure - not had a lesson yet!
AS: History 9
Law 20 +
A shame law's so popular that I'm in a full class with loads of idiots in it, I can't complain though considering my other classes are so small.
Art: 20 (including 2 boys)
RS: roughly 16 (1 boy)
English Lit: 24 (2 boys)
Economics: 32 (50/50 male + female)
-psychology - 20
-economics - 20
-History (havnt had a lesson yet)
Theres 14 in my tutor group which means the maximum in each class will be 14 unless people from other courses decide to add an alevel to theres
In the taster lessons the numbers were as follows and these will be similar to the actual class sizes.
English Literature: 8
Business Studies: ?? havent had a lesson yet but it will be about 10
Critical Thinking: 9
