monthlies are horrible. They are really thick, and it feels like there is something in your eye all the time. Then there is the whole cleaning thing. But I think they are cheapest contacts.
Dailies are really thin and you cant even feel them, but they are really hard to put in and out(out especially). I get 30 days supply of johnsons & johnsons activue for £22, which is about 3x the price of monthlies...

Most people wear monthlies. I like them, they're really comfortable and you can't even feel them. If you're going to wear contacts every day, you should probably opt for monthlies because dailys are for infrequent contact lens wearers (mostly).

I get 3 coloured lenses @ £40, although usually you'll pay anything between £10-20 per pair.
i like monthly's they worked for me very comfy i got mine from d&h. but it is a pain if they rip or something because you have to pay a £10 to replace, but my friend visits specsavers and get hers for £12 a month. i wear dailys from baush and lam..something...but i found this great website www.postoptics.co.uk they do really cheap dailies, monthly's and all other contact lense stuff. all you need is your perscription and a credit card, very cheap  i wear dailies everyday because i find them really comfy and you dont have to mess about with all the cleaning

hope this helps...

You'll get used to becoming an efficient contact lens wearer.

You can get free replacements if you get the monthly ones from specsavers. From specsavers, if you get the monthlies which you don't need solution for it's about £17-18 a month but that includes all your after care too such as free contact lens checks etc and you also get 50% off glasses too!!!

If you mean the monthlies with solution, this costs £12 a month with specsavers and you get all the above aftercare etc mentioned above.

The dailies which i wear are £22 a month from specsavers and all the aftercare etc is included. The dailies i find are comfier and less irritable than the monthlies with solution.
I've been wearing monthly contacts for about four years now. They cost around £15. They can take some getting used to but once you do its fine; just try not to wear them more than five days a week, six is an absolute max!

BTW Solutions in Tesco is really cheap, can't remember how much but I'd usually pay £10 for a big bottle. I don't see what the difference is, expect that I'm having to pay more from the Opticians.

I wear them every day, it's not been a problem.

Did anyone see City Hospital yesterday about a woman who wore monthly lenses and didn't clean them enough....Nasty.

Get the 2 week ones from Acuvue Advanced...which consist of silicone and is more gas permeable. This way you can prevent neo-vascularization--when your veins grow into your cornea.

Monthlies are too dry. They don't let enough oxygen in, in my opinion.

Edit: Oh and one box (6 contacts) of AA cost about 35 dollars..which is I believe, given the exchange ratio, 20 pounds or so.

However you have to get 2 if your prescriptions are different for each eye..so say 40 pounds or so for 3 months.

I've been using focus monthlies for over 3 years, I find them fine and I don't notice them when they are in. They cost me £15 a month including cases and solutions.

Sometimes my eyes can feel a bit dry if they've been in all day (especially in summer and places with air conditioning), but you can get eye drops, specifically for contact lense wearers, that help alot. It's good to give your eyes the odd day off too. They cost me £15 a month including cases and solutions.

I've beenw earing monthly contacts for about 3 years. I find them great, dont even notice they are in (except I can see obviously lol). I pay about £50 for 6 pairs, then have to buy solutions on top of that.
Instead of taking advice from us lot, go to your optician and have a chat. If you tell them what you want and how much you have to spend then they will try and find a suitable option for you. They are the experts after all!
I used to wear night and day monthly contact lenses that you can sleep in. However, my eyes grew intolerant of them, so I now wear dailies. Much less hassle.

How do you get them so cheap? I just spent £40 on a month's supply of johnson's dailies.

I agree btw, they are so much better than monthlies. However, most opticians would probably suggest you go on monthlies before trying dailies to get used to them.

ive jst started using monthlies but i can feel them.. i think i shud get dailies..my sis says if im in uni and wanna stay over in someones room, i can jst take them out and dont hav to worry bout cleaning them
I think OP was asking about the ones that you leave in all month. They were advertised a couple of years ago.

I've been using the monthly ones that you take out at night since I was 15, I think. I'm slipping on the cleaning routine again. Hm.

I've just swapped to dailies, and I find they don't stick on my finger! When I'm about to stick it in my eye they fall off

Meh, I got put straight on dailies without any mention of monthly ones. I pay £15 a month for 15 pairs and that includes the aftercare and annual checkups, so it's not too bad. But my current ones are starting to dry my eyes out quite badly, even after just a couple of hours and even using refreshing drops, so I'm thinking about changing to fortnightly ones which are more gas permeable, but they're £20 a month.
