6th form: do any of you have to wear a uniform?

Do any of you have to wear a uniform for 6th form? I do, although we get to choose what top we wear as long as it it is a white blouse and a cream, red or black jumper. We have to wear the school skirt though!
In a way I think wearing some sort of uniform is better as you don't have to think about what you have to wear every morning!

Nouniform unfortunately. My school expects us to make sensible, reasoned decisions about what's appropriate and what is not. Most people went in jeans for the induction days in the summer.
Enjoy Year 12!

My 6th form doesnt have any written uniform but its supprising how many people seem to wear the same things

Guys - Jeans and usualy a shirt or a dressy T-Shrit(on very hot days)
Girls - Jeans (or on hot days a skirt) and a very loose top thing

and anyone who isnt waring things allong those lines just stick out like a sore thumb, probably why you never tend to see chavs after the 2nd week, they have all left or realised how stupid they look. Oh and you get the odd individual, but even they tend to tone down what they wear to fit in.

i had to have the full works last year blazer, shirt, tie, jumper etc
We were the only 6th form in the borough/surrounding area to have a uniform. My school was a bit uptight like that. We had to wear black with a white shirt and a tie. I loved it. I didn't have to choose my clothes in the morning (and so get called a goth/grunger/satanist incessantly because none of those morons actually knew what any of those things really are) which was excellent. Plus it gave me a legitimate excuse for owning a lot of black clothes  They were quite strict about it, but people could still make it fairly personal i.e. you could wear a black mini-skirt, baggy black trousers or more formal ones depending on the type of person you are.

When freedom of choice is a 'hassle' and a 'pain', something is wrong.

We didn't have a unifrom in 6th form but blokes weren't allowed to wear shorts.:frown:
You guys are uspset that you don't have to wear a uniform

I'm sooo happy I don't have to wear a uniform. Obviously if you haven't got that many clothes then I see the problem, but really, I would think most people living in England today would have a lot of clothes. So I really don't see how people can want to wear uniform as 'you dont have the fuss of deciding what you're gonna wear each morning'.

Yes... ours in black white grey or maroon.

So black/black pinstripe trousers and a shirt (and jumper or whatever). It's only been made to be a shirt/blouse for girls this year- it used to be any 'smart office' gear so various different tops were okay.

My 6th form is part of my old school.

I HAVE to wear a shirt with a tie and blazer, there is no leniency. They even measure your skirts.

No uniform for me. In the sixth form attached to my old school they didn't didn't turn a hair whatever you wore. Fancy dress on your birthday/friend's birthday/any day you felt like it was the norm. The village people were always popular, and the tellitubbies (sp) also made an appearance.

I didn't have to wear a uniform in the 6th Form - that was well good, although it did take me ages to find what to wear in the mornings and then putting make up on. But it was good, because i could wear what i like so jeans, short skirts and things!
My sister has just started in the lower 6th and she goes to a different school a private school whereas i went to a state school and she has wear a suit - i know that's nice and posh, but that's not me - i don't do suits lol!
We used to have to wear a tweed jacket at my school. Not a very nice thing to have to walk around town in. Nor was it good in the wet months (ie always) as the jackets had a certain dead sheep in the river odour about them. Thankfully they changed the uniform after parents and pupils lobbied them, and the dead sheep comments grew too great in multitude. We also have about ten different sorts of ties for prefects, rugby squad, arts colours etc. In fact this morning our deputy head gave us a five minute speech on the rights and wrongs of wearing 'summer uniform'. Blazers may be derobed, but jumpers can't be worn. Even showed us how to roll our sleeves appropriately.
