Lose fat, keep the muscle.

OK, I've been bad, and instead of bulking up over winter and cutting down over summer, I just err...bulked up.

So now I have a lot of excess fat, and I want to lose as much of it as I can in the shortest period of time possible. I know the normal cutting down methods, but I really can't be bothered spending three months dieting down. I might as well carry on bulking up in that case. So does anyone have any shortcuts? Or any quick methods they've found through their own experiences? I don't care how hard they are to do, it's not too much of a problem to carry them out.

Thanks a lot!

There are no shortcuts, it didn't take a month for you to put that fat on, it won't take you a month to lose it.

Indeed, it took a while to put it on. But in the past I've done certain things which made me lose weight pretty damn fast. I'm sure my metabolism helped.

Unfortunately sticking to lettuce, water, and maybe the odd bit of yoghurt for 6 weeks running makes you lose strength and muscle mass as well. So I was hoping someone else found something efficient (but possibly a bit extreme) which reduced muscle loss.

Edit: Actually the post makes it look like I'm just too lazy to cut up properly. I have cut up properly before, its just that size and (to a lesser extent) strength became too much of a priority this time round so I kept the bulking diet up for too long. Anyway, the reason I have to lose weight so quickly is because I want to make the weight for a fight at the end of October. If it was two months later I wouldn't even consider a shortcut. There's no point in me doing it normally and still not make the weight- I might as well not bother, and carry on bulking, and give the fight a miss. I really should have mentioned this first time round.

How much do you need to lose?

I'm just over 15 stone, need to clock in at somewhere between 13 and a half to 14.

Yeah, in case anyone's trying to work out what sport has bizarre weight catgeories like that, its a unofficial boxing match and the other guy won't fight me unless I'm under 14, as he hovers around that mark.

Should be able to do it without losing much muscle, end of october is 7 weeks away, if you lost 2 lbs a week thats a whole stone, which takes you to just over 14 stone, factor in some water loss at the beginning of your diet(2-5lbs) and thats 14 stone, get in the sauna and dehydrate before your fight and you're under 14stone, sorted!

Didn't even think of water loss!

Cheers mate, much appreciated!!!

Only problem is if the weigh in is right before the fight, you said about it being unofficial so they could use some stupid rules like that..

Yeah it's right before, which means I'm taking a large gamble on dehydration. Shouldn't be too much of a problem really, it's not as if I'm loading up with creatine at the same time - which would be a disaster!

There's nothing stopping me from drinking during the fight, and I know his style. It's going to be quite an anaerobic affair, so I seriously doubt the whole thing will last more than 3 rounds. Neither of us are big fans of cardio.

The whole weight issue came about because the guy is built like a tank, short and squat. I'm taller than him, but nowhere as broad, but I still beat him by a fair bit on weight.

ok this isnt going to work. you cant simultaneously lose weight/fat and gain muscle. to gain muscle, your calorie intake must be HIGHER than your needs,as muscle forming is ANABOLIC. but to lose all that fat, you need to reduce your intake. i suggest dieting down - but dont restrict calories too much or you'll start to burn muscle. THEN start to bulk up. meanwhile, weight liftin g and building muscle will use more caloreis to maintain

Where did he say he wanted to lose fat and gain muscle simultaneously?
